The store got a recent renovation that included a sushi bar, fruit station, fried chicken. On average the store is ok.
My review is specifically for their (recent?) gift card policy. As many do, I have a credit card that offers cash back/points for groceries. I typically pay for all my groceries with this card. On occasion, I give gift cards as gifts and buy them at grocery stores where there is typically a large selection. This store has a local policy that does not allow you to purchase a gift cards (stater brothers branded or others) with a credit card. Cash or debit card only. Not even Apple Pay. They don’t even allow you to split your payment methods. This holiday season, there is a promotion on select gift cards. If you buy$50 in gift cards, you get $10 off your grocery basket on the same transaction. Per their local policy, you need to pay for that entire transaction in cash/debit. Corporate customer service confirmed that this policy on gift cards is at the sole discretion of the store manager&assistant manager. It’s not worth the hassle in finding a cashier or manager that will allow credit cards. I will get my groceries at a different grocery chain like Walmart, Target, Ralph’s, etc along with the quick gift card and birthday card. I don’t have time to worry if my credit card will be...
Read moreGreat store with reasonable prices, and a great selection! I just moved to this city and this place is only 1/4 mile away. So I frequently stop by to grab groceries during the week or barbecue supplies on the weekends. However the staff especially the young ones, look absolutely miserable. These people won’t even look you in the eye if you ask them for help. God forbid you happen to have to check out with this one girl in particular, she won’t even greet you when it’s your turn to check out. She’s just starts scanning your items while chatting it up with the bagger. And if you just so happen to ask her something and interrupt them, she’ll sigh and roll her eyes. The guy in the meat department, presumably a jock of some sort, looks like he’s in prison serving other prisoners. While his hat has a printed message that says, “Always serving you with a smile.” Yeah—right. Look, we get it, you hate your job. But don’t take it out on your customers. Go get a job somewhere else. Next time I want to go grocery shopping, I’ll just drive a little further up the street to Cardenas. Stater...
Read moreA Stater Bros. That Delivers on All the Classics Ever since I was younger, Stater Bros. has always been a neighborhood staple. It's the kind of store where it feels like you always know someone, and it was a well-known fact among friends that they always had the best-looking girls, lol. Well, I'm happy to report that this Stater Bros. continues the trend and does not disappoint! The staff here was super friendly. The service was great, and I was even told I smelled good, which was a definite plus. A beautiful and very helpful worker in the produce department was an added bonus. My visit was only supposed to be for chips and beer, but we ended up buying some fruit just because she was so helpful. The only downside to the visit was seeing a weirdo laying on the floor sucking on Dust-Off, but the manager and a staff member were outside taking care of it right away. It's good to know they stay on top of things. Overall, it was a great shopping trip that proves some traditions—and some grocery stores—are worth...
