This library is my second favorite next to the Denver Library. The system is completely comprehensive, I love the fact that they don't charge you for overdue material unless it's torn up or never returned at all. My husband isn't very good at remembering he has books to return so this was a definite money saver. They have an alright selection, not a whole lot for people who read in foreign languages beside Mexican Spanish. The biggest problem is it's a huge hang out for people wanting to play Farmville. They literally have people waiting outside before they open to snag a computer before they are completely arrested by people wanting to play Farmville, and no I'm not joking! I've walked around and looked at what most of them are doing! If anybody going there to do serious research online and you don't have a laptop, prepared to wait for the next available computer. The parking lot is used as a pick up spot for the school next door which causes lots of congestion. Teenagers flock to it after school to hang out and they typically get pretty loud and are extremely rude. There's always at least one baby screaming while it's mother sits looking at her facebook and talking on her cell. The quietest place is on the third floor which is for people who are studying and doing business.
And to the person who is too fricken lazy to walk across the street to get to the library... seriously? Get off your butt, you are pathetic. We parked in the parking lot across the street all the time, along with everybody else who isn't a lazy a-hole. It's a good library... but I have come to completely, absolutely detest most of Columbia, Missouri's population. Selfish, lazy and disgusting. They make every place in Missouri miserable. I hope I never live...
Read moreGood selection. Very nice and helpful personnel. Even has a few choice fun things to buy for the sweet tooth or just a soft drink. Second to none for book, dvd, cd, and printed material selections. Great place for doing whatever your needs required - each on a separate floor. When it's selloff time, the racks are wheeled out, and they are instantly inundated with patrons looking to fulfill their own home collections. Very good prices...though, on the series dvds, have the staff play all of the discs as some may have been corrupted by some fool looking to duplicate them. Always inquire as to available services when you are there... many are not advertised and are only known through a librarian's guidance. Also, check out the bargain sales of some materials: books, dvds, cds, audio books, and other supportive materials. Don't forget the refreshment stand and the occasional book/movue sales on Saturdays. The front desk peoples are often taken for granted - they shouldn't be. Trust that they have a job to do and that you shall be processed as fast as is humanly possible - have you seen how fast their fingers move? Anyway, it has always been the learned peoples there who have made a difference for us. Many types of discovery exist there -...
Read moreFrom the very first day I registered, my experience with the Daniel Boone Library has been nothing but excellent. Every interaction from checking out books to using their digital services reflects the care and thoughtfulness this library puts into serving the community. One service I especially appreciate is the curbside pickup. Sometimes, all I have time for is a quick moment to breathe and being able to pick up books so easily makes a big difference in my day. Without fail, the staff who assist at the curbside are some of the kindest souls I’ve encountered. They always greet me with a smile and genuine warmth, and that simple act of kindness means more than they probably realize.
I’ve also noticed and deeply appreciate that the library has been integrating more Spanish, Portuguese and French language books, especially in history and literature. On days when I feel a little nostalgic, it’s become my go-to comfort. And the digital platform is an absolute plus reliable, easy to use, and full of options.
In simple words: Thank you for the effort, the quality, and the heart behind...
