This is probably one of the most subpar AMC theaters I have visited. Let me get this out of the way and say this is no fault of the staff and their work ethic. My complaints are about the owner primarily. A few of the theater bays have terrible screens. During certain scenes in movies and colors you can see obvious scuffs or massive scratches on the screen itself and it can be distracted while watching the movie. The seats can be pretty poor and vary bay to bay. There are no recliner seats at this theater which is practically the industry standard. This is also a faux imax theater. If you want to experience a real imax go to the one in Atlanta and be amazed. I go to about 1-2 movies per week and I’m currently an AMC A-List member which comes with special perks. This AMC doesn’t acknowledge the existence of these perks. A-List has priority lines for check in and concessions while this location has nothing. This final complaint is more about the culture and etiquette of the client in Columbus. Never have I been so appalled by people in a movie theater before. Went to see an older movie that had been out for several weeks on a Friday evening and the patrons in the theater were awful. 6pm showtime isn’t too late and this was not a children’s movie but a lot of kids were kicking seats and rambling during the film. The craziest part was the parents were honestly worse than the kids. Two women rambled during the whole movie and others blatantly playing on their phones. Definitely ruins the movie experience. My advice to avoid this is take time off from work on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday and go to an early showing so there are no kids and there are minimal people to ruin the show because they have no control over what...
Read moreMyself, my friend, and her daughter went to see a movie tonight in the Big D stadium at 6:30 pm. We got there half an hour early and went into the theater. The pre-preview commercials began playing and the screen was very blurry. I alerted the workers at the concession stands hoping to get the problem corrected before the movie began. They said they would look into it.
When the actual previews started, the screen was still blurry so I went out again and again, they said they would look into it.
When the movie began and the screen was still blurry, I called the front area from my phone in the auditorium and told them for a third time that the screen was blurry. They said they would look into it. This time, I could tell someone actually came in and adjusted things a little because the projection moved to the ceiling for a moment and the movie, somehow, got even blurrier.
My friend finally took her shot and went to the lobby and for the fourth time, told them it was blurry. The guy basically told her he couldn’t fix it and he was sorry. We were not offered our money back for our $16+ tickets. We were not offered rain checks. We ended up watching the blurry film.
The side part of this story is that every ten minutes, a loud whirring noise would come through the walls that lasted about 20 seconds each time. It was...
Read moreUpdate to Add: I did have to get in the car and go to the theater to speak to a manager, but once there the manager was reasonable and courteous. He is the ONLY reason I'm not leaving my previous 1-star review alone. I just purchased 2 tickets for my 19 (so, adult) son to take his 15 year old brother to see an R rated movie. Never has been an issue before, these guys go to the movies typically 2-3 times a month. They're kicked out of the theater because my older son isn't 21. So, my kid can join the Army, but not take his brother to a movie that I as the parent paid for. Full transparency, if you happen to click on the tiny information icon by the R in the rating on the app when you purchase a ticket it does say a minor has to be accompanied by a 21 year old. Not sure why this policy exists or why the information about it is so obscured, or why it's enforced today but not ever before?
My older son calls me and I said go find a manager so I can speak with them. NO employees around. I said, just go in, apparently nobody's too pressed about it or able to help. I tried to call the theater. No answer. I also sent a text message to them with a "If you're the manager here's the deal, call me at 555-5555." They got kicked out, no manager available, no refund. I tried to call the theater again, no answer, no ability to...
