Best Escape Room in Columbus

I've done multiple escape rooms in establishments around Columbus, and this was easily the best I've experienced. If you've never been to one before, every escape room might seem the same on the surface, but small nuances make a world of difference. Here's what I mean:

Some places frustrate you by giving you too much information (so you have no idea what's a clue and what isn't) and other make clues way too obvious. This place struck a nice balance between the two, so that almost everything had meaning, but you still had figure out the what the heck to do with it. I've been to some escape rooms that are too linear (do A, then B, then C), which can be fun, but can also make it difficult for a group to have enough to do (only so many people can crowd around a piece of paper). Our Zombie room had some cool multi-step clues, but we felt like there was enough to do that our whole group was always engaged. The presence of actors in the room really set this place apart. At first I was apprehensive, but without giving any details away, it added a jolt of energy instead of just relying on a timer (like other places). Professor Corrine and Dr. Doug were fantastic and made our experience extra memorable.

My mom's husband wanted to fly my brother, my wife, and my self home for my mothers milestone birthday as a surprise present. I had a creative idea to havr my brothers who live local to take my mom and party to an escape room so we could spring out of a hidden area when they solved that portion of the puzzel. Some of the more corporate rooms were hesitant to allow it but the Room Escape Adventures Columbus were very accomodating. The room we were in was awesomely decorated (felt like i had stepped back into my childhood) and had something i had yet to experience in an escape room, a game master who was an active part of the experience as a character who was able to enable the room's puzzel events to be less mechanically triggered and more abstractly interactive which was very unique and enjoyable. Patrick was great as our host DJ PJ, and as a bonus we also had Corrin as a videographer who had documented the occasion (under the guise of a clever cover story), which we will enjoy watching for many birthdays to come. We had so much fun! I have been to several different escape room locations between Columbus and Cincinnati of varying difficulties and theming, but had not been to a facility that had live actors before.

I thought the experience would be awkward and intrusive, but Deputy Michael made my group's experience even more immersive and enjoyable! He never broke character, his improv was impeccable, he kept up an accent the whole time, gave hints in a very clever way, and was respectful. The room itself was themed well and had plenty of props and puzzles to keep us immersed and occupied. The unique timer was a nice touch, as well.

The facility itself has a ton of themed knick-knacks to look at and check-in was a breeze. I'm very excited to come back! A note to anyone going here - yes, some of the rooms have live actors, but they do their job well. If you come here and appreciate the actors' work, bring cash to tip with.
