I truly cannot believe this has happened. I went here with my mom on 4/27, my 20th birthday. After having a very difficult month, I was very excited to receive my mani-pedi with gel polish. Right away, the lady who performed my service began telling me my nails were short and I should be growing them more. She then proceeds to file and shape them despite their already quite short length. I was a bit concerned by this, but figured that she was the professional, so surely she must know what is best. She of course trimmed and filed my toenails as well. A few days later, I started to feel soreness in my big toe on my right foot. I begin to worry that my fears regarding her trimming my nails were comming to fruition, but not wanting to have to deal with an ingrown toenail situation, I decided to ignore the pain the best I could. Six days after the pedicure, the pain was too intense to ignore, and, to my horror, I was faced with what was undoubtedly an infected ingrown toenail. I am not saying necessarily that the lady who did my pedicure caused the issue (although that is very possible), but I find it so disturbing that this woman decided to trim and provoke an area that, with her training and experience, she should know to avoid. The story does not end there. The next day, I noticed the thumb on my right hand was ingrown as well. This is exactly where I saw her trimming and filing and was concerned that an ingrown nail could appear. The fact that she noted out loud how my nails were already short and proceeded to manipulate them is what really bothers me. I am an art student-- I am constantly using my hands and touching all kinds of things. Now, I have to deal with intense pain on my dominant hand anytime I draw, type, etc.. Making matters worse is the fact that I am immunocompromised, meaning an infection in either my finger or my toe could cause immense issues to my health. My mom let me know she noticed soreness in her toes as well, although I do not know all the details about it Regardless, I am of the impression that either the people working here either do not know what they are doing or have little to no regard for proper care of their customers. I understand shaping, trimming, and filing nails are these people's jobs, but when health and safety is on the line, they cannot be overlooked in the interest of having "perfect nails". I am so upset that a fun and relaxing trip to the salon as a birthday treat has become a medical disaster that could end in major illness or expensive trips to the doctor. I fully intend to call the establishment back asking for a refund; after what has happened, it is the least...
Read moreI have been to this salon a couple times in the past, and they were all ok experiences. I went in last week and had such a horrible job done on my nails. I asked for a balance with gel paint. I have a coffin style shape. The older lady who works there asked if that was the shape I still wanted, I said yes. The drill was used to do most of the shaping and she filed them so much, they are ruined. I expressed to her to much had been taken off the sides. The paint job was not good as well. I asked for a third coat, the color I chose was a light pink so it tends to be streaky and needs more coats. She reluctantly did but did not paint a third coat on each nail but did spot painting on the nails she thought needed it. I had spoke up several times, that I was not happy and tried to see what she could do to correct it all. But after awhile of her not getting it and 2 hrs. Later I just wanted out of there. Cost me $47.00. I was sick to my stomach when I left as I only am able to afford my nails done once monthly. I will be having my nails soaked off and paying for a new set next time, because she has messed the shape up so much, she also put super glue on the tips of my acrylic and real nail to hold them together. Im guessing because of the aggressive filing that took place. For now I have to deal with my nails as they are. Which they are horrible looking. I will never go back to that salon again. As I was waiting for my nails to dry another lady came in and told the other man working there, that she did not want the older women doing her nails because she does a horrible job. I really think people need to either take classes to keep up with the styles and to better their techniques, or they should not be doing nails, period!!...
