I have been all natural for approximately 7years. I normally wear my hair in protective styles (braids/sew-ins). I really did not take care of my natural hair. I would just wash/condition it and occasionally dust my ends before braiding it back up. Due to my hair thinning around the perimeter and my hair not growing any longer than shoulder length I decided to start actually taking care of my hair. After reading reviews I went to Synergy in hopes of finding a regular stylist to take care of and grow my hair out. I booked the New Client Journey service with stylist, Ashley.
While booking online I had some difficulties with the site and the online payment. I received an error message while attempting to set up an online account twice. Once I got my account set up I was charged twice for a deposit of $25. The first time I got an error message stating my payment did not process. Although it came out of my account, I resubmitted the payment and the second time it was successful. I figured the money would be returned, or the additional $25 payment would be deducted from my remaining balance when I got to the salon. However when I arrived and advised the receptionist that I was double charged for the deposit, she told me that only $25 was charged to my account and that I still owed $40 and would need to pay the $40 prior to being serviced. I was pretty much out of luck for the other $25 unless I disputed it with my bank, which I did.
Ashely was very nice and professional. Aside from me having to sit at the shampoo bowl for 45mins waiting for her to finish another client. I have no complaints as far a her professionalism and servicing. She seemed to be knowledgeable about the salon products, and natural hair in general. So I was optimistic about my healthy hair journey.
Unfortunately, I now have some SERIOUS HEAT DAMAGE! The heat damage I sustained was in the back of my head. It had been over a year since I had my hair straightened. So I requested a silk press. I never used much heat on my hair because again I kept it braided. In the process of washing my hair Ashley complimented how nice my curls were. Due to the heat damage from my recent appointment, the back of my hair will not curl AT ALL!! Which is unfortunate as I was ready to start wearing my natural hair.
I have since washed/conditioned my hair twice, and still itās straight and stringy in the back. With all that said my hair is in WORSE condition than it was before I went to this salon and I definitely wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am of mixed race with type 2B below shoulder-length hair. I first went to the Gahanna location a few times and was pleased with the results from the stylist, Talaysia and had planned to become a regular customer. Unfortunately, Synergi left that location and didn't bother to tell their clients where their stylists relocated to and the one that did my hair did not transfer to their Columbus location.
I waited a year to try them again and this is what happened after I booked my appointment for their Columbus location:
They sat me with a stylist that was not whom I made my appointment with.
They advised me that I would be treated as a new client which was a higher fee when I really was not a new client.
The stylist asked me what my needs were. I responded that I needed to be able to hold a curly style during humidity and was due for a trim. She proceeded to tell me that she was excellent at both curls and withstanding humidity.
While she was doing my hair, she told me what Synergi products she was using and made recommendations on which of those products I should buy.
She complimented me on taking good care of my hair by not using too many chemicals and using my flat iron only once a week and emphasized how harmful excessive heat can be.
After she finished with blow-drying my hair, she did a good job of trimming my hair. Then she put a finishing product on it and proceeded to flat iron my hair.... Not once but three times! She mumbled that my hair was not behaving and put more stuff in my hair. After she was finished, my hair was limp and stringy. It looked like I just got out of bed.
When I told the receptionist about my experience she reduced the cost and explained that I had the wrong stylist who was new and that I should have had a more experienced stylist since I was a current client. I had to re-do my hair when I returned home.
I cannot recommend this...

I do not recommend anyone spend their money here. I take very good care of my hair. Deep conditioner once a month, flat twist and wash and go's. I flatiron my hair every 8 weeks for trims. I'm also color treated. For halloween I went to Shatoya Wilson loft 17 at cherry bottom/Under synergi platform. She got my hair bone straight. She also trimmed my ends (she did not do a good job with the trim. My co worker pointed out to me I need a trim after her dust of the ends). Two weeks later, My hair is washed and I have straight ends. I didn't jump to conclusions. I said my next wash, my hair should be fine. Here we are yesterday (A week later) and my ends are still straight. The person who washed me measured 4inches of straight hair in some spots. I did talk to Karen (The owner) and she asked me how often do I straighten my hair and how long did I keep it straight (code for it's your fault). She is aware of the problem and I was referred back to Shatoya to fix it. I declined! I have provided what my hair looked like in its natural state before the visit (In the hat dated 10/10) and after the visit wet (two weeks after Halloween) and after me trimming the straight pieces out. So that you see what you may experience if you do business with Karen's salon. I did do some scrolling and there is another comment about heat damage. Iām still angry because, when my straightened my hair it is really long....
