I honestly thought the pizza was good however I did have a few issues with other aspects.
For one the menu is not readily accessible. There is a menu at the counter but it's in a glass case and way at the back where it is hard to read. The menu should be taped to the top where it can be easily read or there should be copies available to look at.
Secondly the menu itself is pretty sparse. There aren’t a lot of options for sides or even any kind of breadsticks. Most pizza places have a few options for sides so there should be more than what is available. Also should probably advertise the fact that they only have vegetarian options. It could help set your place apart and prevent an unexpected surprise from someone looking for a standard pepperoni pizza.
My last point is that the prices for the pizza are much higher than they should be. $20.00 for a large cheese pizza is really high for pizza that isn’t a deep dish. From my experience $15 is about the average for a large cheese pizza. The pizza was good but I would say not for that price. If the ingredients are expensive I would suggest adding more coupons or have some kind of loyalty program.
It did seem like the pizza place had just moved in to that location so a number of my points might be fixed with time. They do seem to have a good recipe. But there are areas to improve upon to make the restaurant as good...
Read moreI recently hit up East Pizzeria down on East Broad in Columbus, Ohio. First off, this place has got the old-school vibe – you walk in, and you know they mean business. No frills, just pizza.
Now, let’s get to the good stuff – the pizza. One bite, everybody knows the rules. First thing I noticed: the crust. This is a solid, thin crust, with a nice crunch. It’s not floppy, which is key. The undercarriage has that perfect golden brown, not too doughy, not burnt. This is textbook.
Cheese and sauce ratio? Spot on. They’re not skimping on the cheese, and it’s the good stuff – nice and stretchy. The sauce is tangy with just a hint of sweetness, really complements the cheese. Together, they make for a harmonious bite every time.
Another important note: East Pizzeria is kosher. They’ve nailed the kosher pizza game, which isn’t always easy to find.
Now, onto the intangibles. Service is quick, the staff’s got that friendly neighborhood feel. They know their regulars, and that’s always a good sign.
So, what’s the final score? I’m going with a 9.2. Solid pizza, definitely worth a trip. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check out East Pizzeria. One bite, everybody...
