Update After the 7 week mark came and I still hadn't heard anything, I had enough. I called and said I'm picking up my machine. There was NO PROGRESS made on my machine. NONE! In 7 weeks!
I went to Eastex Sewing Machine Co down on 1960. Instead of 3 week time estimate (which this place clearly did not meet), I got the call within 48 hours that my machine was ready for pickup. 48 hours for the job to be completely done.... Versus 7 weeks for absolutely nothing.....
On top of all that, it cost $50 for the cleaning & repair, versus the $150+ that this place quoted me. Eastex is also an authorized Babylock dealer.
GO TO EASTEX SEWING MACHINE CO!
The service at at this company is more EXPENSIVE, SLOWER, and UNRELIABLE. Plus, they are not authorized Babylock dealers so I don't know that I should have trusted them to begin with.
Most of the reviews on this page are from SALES and not repairs. Any shop can sell, but not all can keep their promises and provide good service.
Eastex Sewing Machine Co has the sweetest employees, the quickest service, an affordable price, and best of all they keep their promises and exceed expectations. In contrast, I vehemently oppose this business and will make a point to advise my fellow sewers to steer clear.
I hate leaving negative reviews, and I fully intend to amend this review if the issue is resolved.
I gave them my overlock machine for a repair and was told it takes 3 weeks. This is the typical timeline I've seen servicing my machines in the past.
We're about to go on 5 weeks now, and I was told that my machine "has two other machines ahead of it" and they have no idea when it will be done. Uhhhh....
I try to be patient and understanding, but the stakes are just too high in this situation. I'm not a hobby sewer, I use my machine for my work, so going 3 weeks without it means not being able to work, and thus forgoing the income it produces.
I put my trust in this company and I regret it!
I'm considering picking up my machine and taking it somewhere else, but if I'm unable to then I will update this review appropriately with...
Read moreI was told by a friend not to use the Repair service because they rip people off. I wished I would have listened to them. Let me explain the [problem: I took my Janome 300 and my Janome 350E in to be cleaned and serviced in December of 2014. Both machines were working good. Last week my Janome 300 carriage arm refused to move back and forth so I brought it in to be repaired, cleaned and serviced (I checked on line and read that this happens with Janome embroidery machines and it takes a few minutes to repair) I left my machine and picked it up two days later, paid the 109.99 and came home. When I started embroidering, the machine began making a horrible sound, the thread broke. I pulled my orange thread out with blue thread that was knotted inside the machine. I opened the bobbin case and there was a wad of dust in there. I paid for repair, cleaning and servicing. why wasn't that done. I continued to embroidery and then the machine began skipping all over the place. I called the shop immediately. The man said bring it back on Friday. I took it in today and was told that I would be charged more money for repair and the 109.99 wouldn't be subtracted. I was warned about this scam with the repair service but I thought I could trust them. I WAS WRONG FOR POSTING THIS REVIEW BEFORE SPEAKING WITH THE GENERAL MANANGER. TODAY, MY FAMILY WENT INTO THE STORE, HUBBY AND I SPOKE WITH KEN, THE GENERAL MANAGER WHO HE WAS FRIENDLY, CALM, UNDERSTANDING, CONFIDENT ABOUT HIS EMPLOYEES AND WANTS TO HIS CUSTOMERS TO BE SATISFIED WITH THE REPAIRS THAT ARE MADE. HE LISTENED TO MY COMPLAINT, AGREED TO REPAIR MY MACHINE AND CREDIT THE 109.99 THAT WAS PAID TWO DAYS PRIOR FOR REPAIR WORK. I WILL PAY THE COST FOR NEW PARTS AND LABOR AND HAVE MY MACHINE BACK IN WORKING ORDER. HUBBY AND I ARE DISCUSSING ME BUYING THE NEW LIGHT INDUSTRIAL MACHINE. :) THANK YOU KEN FOR MAKING SEW AND VAC MY FAVORITE EMBROIDERY STORE. I AM TRULY SORRY FOR WRITING THE REVIEW BEFORE TALKING WITH THE GENERAL...
Read moreNew to Texas and needed to get Bernina sewing machine repaired and serviced. We walked in and were greeted kindly by a couple of the employees in the store at the time. They were helping other customers so we waited a few minutes. When we checked in we explained what needed to be done, suggesting what repairs needed to happen. The young lady checking us in wanted to do a test sew in order to properly diagnose the issue. When the young lady had a hard time figuring out how to string it and sew with it, we should have walked out with our machine. We saw they had no Bernina machines or accessories, and that should have been our second warning to walk out (or maybe the first sign). We were told it was going to be 3 weeks before the technician could even look at the machine. We have numerous machines and know this is not an unreasonable time for repairs. 3 weeks later, we received a call from the tech who said they did not work on Berninas and he was unsure how to replace a part and when told there was a missing spring, he said there was not supposed to be a spring. We knew he had no idea what he was doing (on this machine) and we needed to pick up the machine. We called back and said we were coming to pick up the machine. The manager told us on the phone they would not charge anything more than the initial $88 inspection fee, even though the tech cleaned the machine. We arrived to pick up the machine and they tried to charge us for the service and the cleaning. We told them we spoke to a manager who waved any further fees. Once both hands were on the same page, we walked out with the machine with no further payment. They have many other brands, but do not take your Bernina line of products. I would have given 1 star if it wasn't for the manager waving the additional charges. We took the machine to another shop in Huntsville that only...
