Almonte Spa — Attraction in Alta

The massage was great. My husband and I did a little spa day with a 90 min couples massage and Mary and Chris were both fantastic. We also did 60 min hot tub which was nice. 30 min probably would have been enough.

The reason for my lower score were the facilities. There aren’t proper locker rooms just a couple stalls with curtains and when I needed change and retrieve my things, someone else had left there items in the stall while they appeared to be showering. Just awkward. There also isn’t a waiting area large enough to accommodate us as a couple or a few guests at a time, just one chair near the two dressing rooms. Made it a bit uncomfortable while multiple guest were wrapping up or starting their services.

Lastly, probably the biggest disappointment were the showers and restroom. Clearly the building used to be a private residence at one point so the only interior shower also the only toilet and it is simply like your bathroom at home. They also have one outdoor shower. But besides the space and it not feeling like a spa it wasn’t well maintained. The shower grout was discolored, there was hair, a yellowed rubber mat at the bottom of the shower, etc. just not inviting. When I pay $500 for a spa day I had hoped for something luxurious and it felt very much pieced together. While the massages were excellent, I don’t see...

I would easily give this a 5 star review but for the rude front desk receptionists.

My massage was wonderful with a talented, kind, and well trained therapist. I had a unique and impactful session.

However, the receptionist were dismissive, rolling eyes when I asked for water when I arrived - and said I had to buy it although there was a water station with an empty container and used glasses.

They then left me sitting there for 20 minutes while they ate lunch and gossiped with each other - did not check me in, did not alert the therapist to my arrival even though I had arrived just before the start of the session. When I asked if the therapist knew I was there, they told me to wait until they were done eating to ask questions. Eventually my therapist came out to see if I was there, and we started 15 min late while the therapist said she didn't know I was there.

Upon checking out, the receptionists demanded I add a 30% gratuity to my payment even after leaving the therapist a cash tip. When I told them this, they mentioned the gratuity was for them. Which, if they had actually provided a friendly and healing environment, I might have been inclined.

After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was quite disappointed. The whole experience was kinda meh. I booked a couples massage online. The couple ahead of us took a little longer to get out of the room, the masseuses took quite a bit to get back in the room... Long story short we got jibbed out of about 10 minutes of our massage. My masseuse left in the middle of the session for a few minutes (that's a first), had pretty cold hands and wasn't particularly friendly. She didn't ask once if the pressure was OK, didn't put a lot of effort into the massage and at the end didn't say goodbye or anything, just kinda left. Boyfriend's masseuse seemed a lot nicer, asked the right questions through out the process wished him a great day and reminded him to drink plenty of fluids. He seemed happy with his massage, so yay! Wish we both had that lady. The room was clean, but quite small and for my taste a little too bright to properly relax. The music glitched out a few times and was a tad too loud, I assume it's a failed attempt to mask the sound...
