Shang Hai Kitchen — Restaurant in Marin City

We ordered via a third party (grub hub). It was over and hour and we called to check on the order. We were essentially told ‘sorry, were busy, they’re on their way’. Ok, I can see that. So now almost 2 hrs has gone by. Called again. We weren’t so friendly this time and without even asking for a name or order number were just told ‘I’m so sorry, it’s on its way. Well comp you for the next time you come.’ Ok, well we are from out of town, we aren’t coming back. After trying to reason with them (all while getting cut off repeatedly) we got hung up on!! The lady is friendly but impatient sometimes only because she needs some help. I think the cook does too, especially with the noodle dishes. I eat here often to avoid going all the way to San Rafael. The sweet & spicy chicken wings are excellent, the onion pancakes great, the crab Rangoon are very good, the chicken or beef chow fun are tasty when I think the chef is not overwhelmed with orders. They have fell flat on flavor twice. I also have had better calamari from here too. Overall, the food is good to me, the prices are reasonable and the service is okay. First time ordering takeout from here despite living quite close. Wow! I can't believe it took us this long! The food came hot and was so delicious. The spicy wontons in red oil were particularly notable, and I loved the Shanghai spring onion oil chow fun noodles too. This spot will definitely be a new go-to! Prices also very reasonable.

I will say, I saw one review cautioning against online ordering and that may be true. We ordered on door dash and it looked like our dasher waited at the restaurant for quite a while. Our food got delivered an hour after ordering despite the eta saying 30 min. Not a big deal, but maybe calling...
