Beach Bum Co — Attraction in Saint Simons

At first glance this looks like a parody or some bad SNL skit. Just looking at it from a customer perspective, it looks like a comedy sketch of a beach front store selling mass produced plastic stuff at ridiculous prices while claiming the stuff is locally made. Overflowing bins of shells that are bought wholesale from China being sold as local when those aren't even native to this hemisphere. Then there is the political stuff which makes the place look like an actual joke. It's so over the top that it has to be fake. Until you walk in and the owner starts screaming at a 3 year old girl for being woke because she is wearing a blue shirt. Or when he refuses to take your card because it has some picture he hates. Just one of the worst people one could ever meet. There is absolutely no reason to go in here as everything sold at this store can be purchased at both better quality and price within...

This store is a dumpster fire. While the owner is certainly entitled to his views, broadcasting them loud and proud with vulgar signs like this is simply bad for business and he should know that. This store's signage turn a relaxing walk on the pier into feelings of hostility for anyone on any side of the political spectrum. It's an eye sore on SSI and is getting worse and not better. The owner is rude to people and has the same tone accurately captured by his signage. Let's help put this business out of its misery by not shopping here.

In response to many of the comments—- store is very American . Yes, some signs may offend, however ALSO posted is “We ALL have freedom of speech AND the GOOD NEWS is that we ALL are Americans” if we weren’t- none of us could say anything. If you don’t like signs - ok to just go down the street. Any smells - well you are in a shop filled with sea life and hermit crabs- neither smell floral. Yes- there ARE local shells! Best prices in the Village by far. Most all made by hand with half made by hand actually IN the store. Kids love this store- it is a tradition for MANY for generations.
