It was a busy Friday night, and our plans at another restaurant fell through, so we decided to try Del Sur. The hostesses were all younger, and when we put our name on the list, we asked them if we could sit at the bar while we waited. One of them said that there was only open seat at the bar, and the two of us couldn’t sit there because it would be too crowded. So we gave them our phone number and walked around a bit. 30 minutes later we came back, and I asked if I could use the restroom. She hesitated, and looked at the wait list to find my name. Once she did, she said “Yes, you can use the restroom”. Weird, but ok, so I did. At that time there was an open seat at the bar, so I called my husband to come inside, and I sat down and he stood next to me. The bartender was so accommodating and sweet, immediately offering to add a stool to the end of the bar so he could sit with me. We got halfway through our drink and our table was ready. Chad was our server, and he was wonderful. We asked for his recommendations, and we went with what he said. We had the lamb empanadas, bread, braised short rib with risotto, and a caprese salad. Everything was exceptional! We will definitely return the next time we are in SSI. Just one small piece of advice, as a former restaurant industry worker for 20 years, for the management - I would educate the hosts about being a little more flexible and accommodating to waiting guests. Especially when you are spending the amount of money you are to dine there. That’s the only negative thing I can say about our experience, otherwise it was exceptional. It was my husband’s birthday, and he said it was his favorite meal he had during our five day visit.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner. We have tried to get in here but our schedule would not let us. We were so excited to finally to stop in for dinner. We were so delirious in our meal choices. The waiter Alex was so helpful with his suggestions on what to order he did an awesome job. The lamb and diced beef Empanadas were homemade, fresh and delicious. We also tried the grilled Argentinian sausage also homemade with Chimichurri sauce it was delicious. I had the Pancetta wrapped scallops with butternut squash risotto. My husband had the Ribeye and the linguine with bolognese sauce. He said the meat was the perfect temperature and seasoned to perfection and had extra Merlot salt on the side dor an added burst of flavor. The pasta was cooked well and the tomato based sauce great and he loved that it had a bit of wine for flavor. We shared the dulce de Leche cheesecake for dessert. It was so soft and creamy and not overly sweet it was the perfect balance. We can’t wait to go back to eat here. I wish our schedule would have let us go sooner. This will definitely be the first place we come to the next time we are in the area. Don’t miss out stopping in for a meal or even some appetizers like the empanadas.

Second time dining here and impeccable service, amazing food. We are from North Ga. And both times coming here (last October - 2023 and today August 2024, we have been lucky enough to have gotten Chad as our server. Neither time asking for him Judy blessed to have gotten him both. My husband and I both discussed that he must have gone to a professional server school because I've never experienced such service. So attentive without being over bearing. Okay let's talk food.... Delish! Tonight we had the Trio of Barratta. Very delish! And for dinner I had the Pear and Gorgonzola Sacchetti - OMG! Such a treat. rich, yet sweet but a delight on the tastebuds. My hubby had the Ribeye and roasted vegetables (I may have stolen a few bites) and was wonderful! Always a favorite when we come in town and we will continue to recommend and continue to come here when we come down. Thank u Chad for your service! U deserve the best of the best because u are!

We came her for our anniversary because it’s somewhere we’ve wanted to dine for a while. While the food was great, the service was absolutely a let down. There were probably only 7 tables of people in the restaurant and about 7 servers (including the owner, Alberto), but it seemed like no one wanted to wait on us. We were sat in a section with 2 other tables who seemed to have great service. After sitting for about 15 minutes with no wait staff coming up to us, the waitress (Chris Anne) who was serving the 2 other tables on each side of us in our section came up and half heartedly told us she’d be back with some water. At that point we had already decided for quite some time that we were ready to put in a bottle of wine and an appetizer, but she left abruptly after giving us the water/did not give us a chance to even attempt to order. We waited about another 10 minutes before the bartender came up to our table and let us know he’d be serving us. It was confusing why the waitress for our section wouldn’t wait on us, but since she seemed a bit rude anyway, we were okay with this. We put in our appetizer and drinks and then waited another 20 before the bartender came around to take our entree order. We had enough time to get our appetizer and finish all of it before he came back to take our main orders. So at this point, we’ve been at the restaurant for at least 40 minutes and were just now putting in our food. The owner, Alberto, also was coming up to every table to check in, but repeatedly skipped us. Once our food came, no one came to check in to make sure we were good until we were basically done eating. I’d understand this level of service maybe if the restaurant was super busy, but at this point we were one of about 3 tables in the entire place. All of the staff was gathered around the counter, talking to each other, talking on the phone and rolling silverware (this is 2 hours before the restaurant closed). The bartender who waited on us was very sweet when he was around, just only came up to our table a couple of times. We waited probably about 15 minutes just to pay at the end when another staff member eventually saw us with our check book standing straight up looking at the wait staff waiting for someone to come over. The best service we received all night was the hostess and we made sure to tell her this on our way out. For just the 2 of us to dine it took a total of about an hour and 40 minutes. I’m not sure what it was that kept the entire wait staff from wanting to serve us, but it was highly frustrating and disappointing, especially on an important night like our anniversary. After the horrible service we left feeling very unimpressed by both the owner who ignored us as well as the staff on what should have been a very...

My husband and I stopped here last night at 8pm (two hours before close), 8/6/21, and approached two teen/young hostesses. The patio was empty except one table and inside only had a few tables as well. The hostesses were incredibly rude, cold and had attitudes from the moment we walked up and upon asking for an outdoor table, one quickly said they didn't have availability. After taking a quick glance, we asked again and the same answer was repeated. We asked if we could make a reservation for later in the night and again were told the restaurant was booked. We thought it odd and as we walked away we were pretty sure that we had just been discriminated against. We went to another restaurant and while waiting for our table, we walked back to Del Sur to see it was still not busy.... We ate our meal at the other restaurant and on our way to our hotel, passed Del Sur one last time, at 9:40pm (20 minutes to close) to find one of the rude hostesses outside talking to two waiters (who were friendly). While passing, my husband commented to the hostess about the state of the restaurant and she simply stared at us as we walked by (the waiters chimed in nicely, unaware of what took place earlier). It was very clear by her expression that she knew we were aware of the stunt she and her co-worker pulled. It's sad that this sort of ignorance not only exists but is continuously being passed from generation to generation. These young girls made it clear that we weren't wanted. I can only hope this doesn't translate to the management at this establishment, and is only that of two children who were taught to hate by ignorant elders, but who knows. What I do know is that my husband and I will never patron this place after that. Why spend money in a place where you are not welcomed? Not a great experience in St. Simons and unfortunately not...

This is from April 2023! We didn't have a reservation and they were able to sit us outside with a dog and child so we wouldn't bother other guests! The service was great and all the people we talked to were fantastic. The reason for the 2 star is because the flavor on the food was severely lacking, considering I spent $98 for 2 entrees, a kids cheese pizza, and an appetizer. We got the ground beef empanada, it was very bland, so I tried to cover it with the diced tomatoes and garlic that was served with it, it was still not great. The cook on it was crispy, despite the flavor being lacking. I ordered the special, which was a grilled Ahi Tuna with small golden potatoes and grilled onions, topped with cherry tomatoes. I asked if the cook could make this rare or medium rare since she said it would be cooked medium-well (This is a very dry fish and the chef should have known instead of suggesting it be cooked medium well!) The waitress asked and he said he could cook it medium rare. It came out medium, with very little flavor and undercooked potatoes. I was highly disappointed. It was super dry and grey, but I ate the whole plate because I was hungry! I ended up cutting the tomatoes up and eating it over the very dry fish, which made it manageable to eat. Ahi tuna is normally a beautiful red/purple fish that is supposed to be seared and served rare to preserve the flavor of the fish. My husband ordered the short rib braised beef over the risotto. I was very surprised that again that the flavors were lacking. They totally missed the ball on this plate. The risotto was very creamy but very bland, The beef was very mild in the dish and was over shadowed by the risotto, it was not a rich deep beef taste. I personally will not be coming back, despite the wonderful employees and a...
