This is a tough review that teeters on 3 and 4 stars. The location is amazing with it being across the street from the lighthouse, a short skip to the ocean, and a nice walk to some fantastic dining spots. The hotel rooms were spacious and the parking is covered, which is fantastic when it's 95 degrees and humid.
The downsides are annoyances that should be addressed as they leave you feeling ripped off and disappointed with your choice. First, the gentleman (or lack thereof) at the counter in the evening was less than pleasant. When we first arrived he was watching TV outside the counter and the lack of any kind of greeting confused us as to whether he worked there or was a guest. After a couple confused looks back and forth he finally arose from his chair to check us in. Not once did he say welcome or thank you for staying with us. He gave us the rundown or breakfast, check out, and some other things he mumbled so quickly it was hard to tell what he was staying. We figured it was all the usual jargon so we didn't want to inconvenience the already inconvenienced guy buy asking him to repeat anything. The Inn offers free WiFi, and you can see the repeaters in the hallways, but myself and my wife were unable to connect at any point during our stay.
If you're going to offer TV, please don't show me 100's of channels I can't watch. Take them off the guide and have it show channels your establishment subscribe to. I get the on-demand purchase titles, but come on with the rest. Your guest get frustrated when trying to select 7 channels in a row they can't watch.
Cleaning and repairs could use a lot more care and attention. Holes should be patched professionally and light fixtures should not be hanging out of the ceiling when they should be recessed. Also, OUTLETS by the bedside, most people like to charge their phone by their bedside.
All-in-all, if we weren't such positive people we might have been disappointed. However, we looked past the issues and appreciated what was just...
Read moreThank you Friends for welcoming my two dogs and I to one of the 2 rooms on the top floor for people w pets. Yes, it is clean and pretty with only slight signs that other dog friends have been here such as wearing out the easy chair and ottoman. One thing I missed is having an upright desk to sit at. The room decor is fun and unique. Since it’s raining, I so appreciated parking underneath and taking the elevator up to the first floor with the lobby. The staff is amazing the cute little sitting room, and we are so close to the little park and the walkway looking out to the ocean. If you book this pet room, be ready to walk. Letting the dogs out first thing in the morning was basically down three flights of stairs to plenty of places for them to sniff and be happy. It was raining, but there was still a nice covered edge of the parking platform. Coming back to the room, take the elevator all the way to the first floor, trek alllll the way down the long hall to the 2nd staircase and go up one more set of stairs and into the hall to access both rooms. Cozy and tranquil, esp for our rainy morning. One more great thing about this restaurant they have the best coffee/drink dispenser ever open 24 seven. Yummmm. Simple carb rich breakfast was appreciated. Everything was clean and well presented. I can tell the people here care about giving great hospitality and that means so much when on a pleasure trip. Also, we drove a couple miles north to the public park and beach access. Since it is not summer season, we can let the dogs run on the beach. What a joy that was in the main reason I wanted...
Read moreWhat a wonderful Inn! The staff here is better than at any location I've ever stayed at before! I traveled with my wife and 2 other friends and the 4 of us shared a room. At one point I overheated from exploring the town in mid August. My wife and I returned to the room to find my card key had stopped working. I sank to the floor from heat exhaustion while my wife went to run to the front desk to get another key. While she was gone a maid found me on the floor and immediately became concerned. After I told her what was happening she raced to go get ice.
My friends returned while both my wife and the maid were gone and let me into the room with their card key. While I was in a cold shower, the maid had returned with a bucket of ice for me. And another inn employee returned with a new card, all within moments. The staff asked how I was feeling when they saw me later that evening.
As if this wasn't enough, we had another experience later when my friend's ice packs had frozen to the bottom of the mini freezer in our room. She's diabetic, and needs the ice packs to bring her insulin with her when we go out into town. I went down to the front desk and explained our problem and with no hesitation at all, the man behind the desk hands me a screw driver to try and pry the ice packs out with. It was a quick success.
The staff here legitimately cares about their guests. They're not just there for a paycheck. They went above and beyond for us and I don't know what we would have done without...
