I wish I could give zero stars for this place.
I saw Oluremi Adedapo on 03/01/2024 and I say this with the utmost sincerity: this woman should NOT be in the healthcare field. At all.
I had my first appointment with this provider via telehealth to establish care as I needed medication management. Within literal minutes of starting the telehealth session, Ms. Adedapo exuded a sour attitude. She asked me what brought me to my appointment. I tried stating that I needed a provider to manage my medications, especially since I felt that I needed a change with a specific medication due to changes in symptoms.
Before I could finish, Ms. Adedapo cut me off (one of many times) and snapped at me that she didnât want to talk about my medications; she wanted to know why I made an appointment.
As she went through parts of my intake paperwork, we came upon the part of my paperwork where I stated that I have been abused in the past. When she was asking me about my abuser, she stated multiple times that my abuser âwas sick and did not mean anything he didâ and to not let it âget me down.â She continually told me I need to be in therapy so that I can âforget about itâ and âmove on.â
Ms. Adedapo saw that I have been prescribed Adderall, so she asked me why and when it was prescribed. This was the only part of my mental health care we got to talk about. Immediately, she told me I do not have ADHD. She stated this MULTIPLE times, citing my educational background:
âPeople with ADHD donât get masters degrees.â
âPeople with ADHD donât go to college.â
âPeople with ADHD donât get a 4.0.â
May I remind you this woman has only known me for roughly 30 minutes at this point?
When I asked her âSo youâre saying that the two previous psychiatrists I have seen misdiagnosed me?â
âADHD is misdiagnosed all the time.â
âYou did not struggle.â
âYou donât get an ADHD diagnosis as an adult.â
When I would try to explain the symptoms and problems I was experiencing that led to my diagnosis by my previous doctors, she would cut me off with either âPeople with ADHD donât get masters degreesâ or go off about how Adderall is a stimulant and that Iâm misdiagnosed.
By this time, I reached my breaking point. I became visibly upset and told her that I was done being cut off, invalidated, and talked down to. I was shaking and crying. I told her I was no longer comfortable talking to her, I never want to see her again, and that I was ending my appointment early.
To note, we did not discuss discontinuing or changing any of my medications. There was ZERO treatment planning discussed in my appointment. ZERO.
Bloom then sent me a bill for $300-some dollars for my appointment. They tried to bill me as self-pay. I had my insurance on file with them. Two issues regarding their billing practices:
They skipped my insurance because they KNEW my appointment visit notes were NOT complete as the appointment was not completed. Billing insurance for an appointment without complete notes to backup the CPT code being billed is NOT ethical and it is fraudulent. I called and threatened legal action for the bill considering this woman didnât even prescribe refills for my medications I am on.
Soon after, I received an adjusted bill for a copay. These people decided to bill my insurance after I called, which means Ms. Adedapo FALSIFIED my visit notes as we did not even come to an agreement on a treatment plan. They have FRADULENTLY billed the insurance company because meeting billable requirements is more important than true patient care apparently.
I sent in a complaint to Bloom explaining all of the above and was told their âChief of Staff,â Colin Tozer, would reach out to me and he would have a meeting with Ms. Adedapo.
Zero follow-up occurred from anyone except one of their care coordinators saying sheâd pass along my messages. Never heard from anyone, not even an email.
Stay far away from Oluremi Adedapo and the whole Bloom system. Patient care isnât their top priority, but gaslighting and unethical billing...
Read moreThis process left me depressed and feeling hopeless. I would recommend searching elsewhere for help as this experience with Bloom was horrible. No sense of urgency, terrible internal communication with their medical team and their call-center. Cue up the auto-generated response from Bloom to this review saying âWe take feedback seriously and weâve worked to resolve the concernsâ like they have on several other negative reviews here â which seems consistent with how they treat the mental health of their patients: cookie-cutter and impersonal.
After seeking medical help with doctors and mental health professionals outside of Bloom, I came to the understanding that these tests that Bloom was requiring me to go through to get treatment for ADHD were complete overkill and very much not needed. The consensus around the industry seems to be that Bloom makes you go through excessive appointments, tests, visits, etc. to pump your insurance company for money.
I had an initial apt with one of the PA-C folks who was nice enough, but ended up giving me an Rx for anxiety, which I was not coming to Bloom for. I was trying to find treatment for ADHD - to which I was told I needed to go through a neurobehavioral and cognitive assessment from one of Bloom's doctors. Turns out, their call center informed me the doctor's with Bloom arenât taking new patients. Then I get told they actually are taking new patients, however, It was going to be multiple months before I could get an appointment to get this neuro/cognitive test they were requiring. So they told me I was in need of medication, they told me they could get me the medication I needed, then told me they wouldnât give me the medication I needed until they did this test in a few months then did a report/analysis on it. The Rx that was given to me, I threw away as I am not struggling with my anxiety and was not seeking...
Read moreI gave Bloom an unfavorable review a few months ago because I was disappointed that I had been switched between three different providers in less than a year and I also felt frustrated with poor communication. I needed refills and couldnât find anywhere else that could schedule me soon enough so I scheduled what I thought would be my last appointment with Bloom and with my fourth new Bloom provider in a year. I ended up being scheduled with Brittany Buchholz and that appointment forward has been life changing and transformative for my mental health. She emailed me after our first appointment with a recap of things discussed plus provided resources she thought could be helpful for me and she put me at ease knowing I could email her directly if I had any questions or issues with medicine or anything else and that sheâd get back to me or pass the issue along to whoever could help. She worked hard to get my records from other doctors I have seen throughout my life and she spent her own time reviewing everything and to really listen so that she could come up with the best plan. She explained things so well to make sure I knew what she was thinking and why certain medication changes were made and Iâm now taking less medications than before but feeling better than I ever dreamt was possible. I feel completely understood and heard, reassured, cared about, and hopeful for the first time in years. I referred a few of my friends to her and one of them was scheduled with another provider who my friend says has been wonderful as well. It seems like the changes Bloom made over the past couple of years were well worth any temporary issues the changes caused because my friends and I have nothing but good things to say about the care and communication weâve been receiving the past couple of months. Thank you to Bloom for making things right and providing...
