DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CLUB FITNESS EVER
Update: I finally got around to canceling my membership. Although I was assured at signing that I could cancel via fax, email, or online, their website states you must go in-person, during specific hours, and meet with the manager. So I emailed my cancellation request to their customer service a month ago, no response still. In a final, desperate attempt not to be charged yet again, I attempted to remove my payment info. They FORBID you from even removing your card from the account!! You are forced to pay indefinitely, barring a song and they made up.
This company needs to be put out of business.
Previous: TL;DR - Overcrowded all the time, broken equipment, rude staff. If you can go to another gym, do it.
So bad, I've stopped going. Unfortunately, there's nothing around as convenient for me. I've thought about making the trek to Gold's up the way, but I plan to just cancel my membership.
This place is stupidly overcrowded., all day, everyday, at every time of day. In fact, I should probably check to see if they are violating fire code. Weights, cardio, and locker room are so extremely overcrowded it's sometimes difficult to move about. You've got two free weight bench presses and two squat stations. And they're almost never open. You feel like if the meatheads would just stop squatting there for 10 minutes between sets you might have a chance, but then you realize there's like 15 other people hovering around to get their full workout in. The dumbbell area is also frequently impossible to get to because there are people lining up in front of it two layers deep. You wind up doing curls in the middle of the walkway. Half the machines are broken, and weights are left all over the gym. You're lucky to find the plates you need.
If you're using the machines, good luck and you're taking your life into your own hands. Half the cardio machines are broken or sticking. I just want to come in with a can of WD-40. Often the safety mechanisms on the weight machines are broken. The cushions on the benches and seats are cracked and the plastic scratches you.
The locker room is so small it's hard to get changed. The bathroom smells like people are straight up peeing on the floor. Considering the toilets are often broken, that might not be an exaggeration. The doors and locks on the lockers themselves are often broken. I've taken to leaving my keys and wallet locked in my car so they can't get stolen.
The staff is rude and unhelpful. Don't bother asking them how to use an unfamiliar machine. They are only there to get overpaid as personal trainers. (Seriously, like 200 bucks for 3 sessions.) Often times, they just take equipment off the weight machine you're using so they can hurry through their PT session with some schmo.
What they need to do, is find where their clients are coming from, and open another location. This gym needs to be twice the size it is with double the machines. If they had more, maybe less would break and go...
Read moreUnless you intend on having a lifetime membership do not join club fitness. Their App is totally useless in managing your account with no ability to adjust your membership. 1-800 call center, and any other form of customer service is absolutely atrocious. I've been trying to freeze and then cancel my membership for months. I don't live near the location I opened my membership nor do I intend to drive there. the only way you can cancel membership is to drive where you opened it and speak to a manager. They won't let you do it online and you can't do it by calling anybody. it's absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I changed my credit card so they stopped billing me and I get hassled with phone calls everyday ask me to update my billing information. Absolutely atrocious way to do business. I was going to temporarily cancel and then get a membership in a year or two when I'm financially and physically able. I will never do business with this company again
Update 4.15.24. Their collection agency which is posing as a legal attorney organization continues to hassle me with ongoing phone calls. Their voicemails and emails insinuate they are only trying to help me reactivate my account. What they are just a collection agency. Unless you and plan to use them for life and it never cancel your membership do not...
Read moreI have no idea why this location is getting so many bad reviews. This is one of the best locations!
I have been to a few other ones and they are so small. Collinsville and Granite City, IL. The one in the loop. They’re all so small and there is not enough equipment!
This one has so many different types of machines and different variations of the same machines. It has locker rooms! Some of them don’t!
A lot of people think this location has old equipment but I have been to other Club Fitness locations that look old. The machines are literally falling apart at some of their other locations.
It has: -An area to stretch and warm up -Different types of classes -An area for cardio -An area for weightlifting -Spacious locker rooms -Yoga mats -Tons of free weights
They are also adding more machines and expanding their space. This gym is already pretty big! Better lighting. And the best part about this gym is that even when it is really busy, you don’t have to wait forever for whatever machine or weights you need to use. It has plenty of space to do your routine.
This one is by far the best one. The employees are all super nice and super helpful. I don’t even care about leaving reviews, that’s how much I love this particular...
