Interesting note for Photographers in the area... I’m a photographer myself & I decided to check out the mall to see if the interior was interesting. I didn’t get much further than the entryway, but I took a couple photos of the mannequins in the display window. I know my rights as a photographer, and I was hardly being disruptive in any way, nor was I working commercially, nor was I in any actual store. Overall, I was actually very pleased with the subtle late 90s/2000s Décor, and the place seemed great. The skylight & balcony are beautiful, like that scene from Clueless where they tease Brittany Murphy by dangling her from the mall balcony and Cher gets really upset. Anyway, despite the lovely interior, it’s irrelevant when you are treated terribly by multiple employees.
Unfortunately, I was harassed by an initial security guard and when he was unwilling to listen, I asked to explain the situation to a superior. This was a mistake. She was visibly infuriated that I would dare question or attempt to explain (I was very professional and respectful), and they both kicked me out, told me not to come back, threatened to take my camera, which is highly illegal, and aggressively followed me about half way to my car, spoke in a demeaning manner, “listen little girl” (I’m in my early 30s). At one point I had to ask the female guard to please calm down. Finally, I asked for their names, which further infuriated them, and only one guard would give me a name. (The original male guard). I think this was very uncalled for and a little frightening. If I am wrong about my right to take photographs in a place that is open to the public and I am allowed entry to, for non-commercial purposes, for example if South Carolina has a special law I am not aware of-I will certainly follow suit, but the manner in which this was handled, plus the aggressive behavior still makes it my first ever rating that is not 5 star (if you don’t have anything nice to say...) Hope this helps any...
Read morePerfect setting for a mall themed horror movie. Had some time to kill so I went here with my kids thinking we would walk around a mall and have some fun. What we found was a building that looked abandon from the outside. Inside was no better. Pretty much the only stores open were a few hair salons and barber shops and 2 or 3 clothing stores. 75% of the mall were empty store fronts in various levels of disarray. The bathrooms on the main floor were cordoned off by caution tape and the bathroom upstairs smelled like it had plumbing issues. Only one toilet was acceptable for human use. There were roaches (both dead and alive), as well as a water fountain that was leaking brown water. I pray the people who were in there eating at the so-called food court don’t get food poisoning. The sound of the doll from Saw laughing as we were headed towards the exit and the angry looking mannequins in one of the store windows didn’t help the horror movie feel Definitely do not recommend this for anybody other than...
Read moreOlder mall the locals mostly avoid. This mall is definitely going through the end of its life. It still has some very nice doors inside including New York gold and diamonds which offers some wonderful quality at great prices, the majority of retailers are either gone or in the process of exiting. While you may hear stories about the this location being unsafe or having issues, I can tell you that is not what the locals say. The locals still visit the small and it stores because they have a loyal following. You see a mix of people here and no one is watching over their back. There is plenty of lighting and security to avoid any kind of issues while you visit. Don't pass this location by if you have a few moments stop by and check out the stores that remain. Visit New York gold and diamonds and buy yourself a nice new watch then go enjoy a coffee in the food court. It will help to support local small business and keep...
