Only because of Daiso carrying a great variety of products, I would consider returning. However, the grand opening experience was incredibly disorganized. I’ve attended store openings before, but nothing like this.
Typically, when a store gets too crowded, employees manage the flow of customers to maintain a safe shopping environment. That wasn’t the case here. I arrived at 8:40 AM, 20 minutes before opening, expecting a wait since I was near the end of a long line. Surprisingly, I was inside by 9:05 AM, but the store was already overwhelmingly packed—no baskets, no room to move, and a chaotic atmosphere.
I had driven from Orlando, so I tried to make the most of it, but the lack of planning made shopping nearly impossible. I barely got through half the store due to the overcrowding. When I joined the checkout line at 9:52 AM, I didn’t finish checking out until 1:04 PM. During that time, there were multiple arguments between customers, staff, and even a confrontation between an employee and a manager. To make matters worse, a large group of people unknowingly waited in a nonexistent line for 40 minutes, only to have management merge them into the correct line instead of directing them to the back. Eventually, the store reached such an unsafe capacity that they FINALLY decided to shut the doors. By then, no one was shopping because they were stuck in the endless checkout line. EMTs even had to be called, likely due to someone passing out from the conditions.
If you’re considering visiting, I’d highly recommend waiting a few weeks for the chaos to settle. This opening was poorly executed, and the experience was frustrating for both customers and...
Read moreSO happy we finally have something like this in Tampa! Especially here in Lutz it’s much needed!! I’ve only been to Daiso in a different country so I was very excited when I heard they were coming to our area. I decided to stop by yesterday (a Saturday) thinking the lines would have gone down but they’re still just as long as you may have seen online!
It’s 100% worth the wait as they have a variety of items from homewares, stationary, your favorite Sanrio characters, snacks, and stuffies! I didn’t think I’d leave with anything as I really wanted to go in and just see what they had but I stood corrected!! I got about $30 worth of things I’ll use.
I only waited 20 mins in line to get inside, and I overheard one of the Daiso employees say they let 50 people in when 50 people come out. For now it ensures not too many people are crowding the store at once and allows for a more comfortable shopping experience.
They have 2 self check out computers and 3 cashiers, the line for that went by fast too! And don’t worry about the conversion rate stuff people are complaining about in the reviews, you’re still getting things here wayyyyy cheaper than you would elsewhere. Daiso is between a dollar store and a five below, not everything is going to be exactly a dollar or less but it’s still a great discount for what you’re purchasing here!
10/10 would recommend anyone! Come by and pick up something you may not have...
Read moreBUY AMERICAN WHEN YOU CAN PEOPLE!!! Support our country!!! First, the yen conversion is incorrect. Many of these items are actually.99 so they are actually robbing people. Look up the yen conversion. The price charts are confusing, just put a dang price on the item or sticker!!! many items had no prices. We don’t read Japanese and therefore have no idea what any of the food is, except Pocky. Disappointed because I still can’t find Pocky flavors that r made but can’t get here in the U.S.. I refuse to buy anything that I, who speak English.. I do live in the United States, cannot read Japanese. You’re basing your store in the United States. How do you expect us to know what the items are exactly. We can’t even read the ingredients, calories, sugar content, carbs, etc… on any of the packaging on food. Our country needs to do something about that so we know what we are buying. Pay attention. Don’t understand the hype. Everything is extremely cheaply made. Just go to your Dollar General, Family Dollar or Dollar store. That’s what’s here,...
