I've been here multiple times, I would say between about 20-30 times. If I could give negative stars I would. Where to start?......first I would have to say the staff are extremely rude, disrespectful, and uncaring. The store owner is an older women that acts like she doesn't care about anyone or anything. She acts like she doesn't wanna talk to you, and when you talk to her she gives you this look and this feeling while you're interacting with her that you're some how annoying her with your presence. She and the other staff there are quick to throw you out the minute you tell them you can't or don't want to pay to play in the tournament. Now I play yugioh so the next two things I'm about write about, I can't really speak for every other game that's played or supported there so I can only say my experiences with playing yugioh there. The staff there are cheaters for people they know and are friends with that play yugioh and enter into tournaments. Me and some friends of mine have had encounters there that while playing in yugioh tournaments, during a match we've had ruling issues where we would be playing against someone that was buddy buddy with one or more of the staff members there that judge the tournaments. While in the match we would have a ruling issue as far as a game mechanic or how some of the cards would interact with each other based on the rules of the game. Well....what would end up happening is, when we made our play. Realizing they would lose the match and or be in a bad spot leading to a loss in the match they would call for the judge. When the judge came over and we explained what was happening. The judge would always rule on their favor, this happened not to just me but also my friends as well so I knew it wasn't just a coincidence or some fluke or something. Then when me and or my friends would try to debate the ruling and want to check it for our selves the judge would say if you do I'll have to give you a game loss for intentionally stalling the game. We couldn't believe it. Needless to say we lost tournaments because of this cheating ass Bullshit. Also not to mention most of the yugioh players that go there are card sharks. They steal cards, their rude, disrespectful, also their hygiene is very poor. I would stay away from this place......I'm never going back. I've found much better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs much as I want to love and support my local game store, I've never had a good experience here.
I'm sure the selection is great, but the guys who work behind the counter won't acknowledge you when you try to buy something or ask to see a card binder. It's like pulling teeth to try to get them to help you. Not sure if it's a power move or if they genuinely don't care, but I seriously do not know how they're still in business when it's so hard to buy things from them. I once stood there for 20 minutes waiting for the two guys behind the counter to respond to me only to be told they "don't do foil cards" but I was welcome to look at a binder once they "were done with their break, which was just starting" and then they sat behind the counter and responded that they were on break if I tried to talk to them. I was totally baffled. Both of you? At the same time? Just taking your break behind the counter and can't sell anything for the next twenty minutes? Why not stagger the breaks if you have two guys? Why not close the store for the break time if they can't be staggered? It really just felt like they didn't want to help me. I ended up leaving without buying anything. That was definitely the worst experience, but it always seems like they wait, hoping you'll go away, before finally checking you out or answering a question after 5-10 minutes of trying real hard to ignore you.
Another time I ordered a Warhammer product that was listed as in stock only to get the run around for weeks about when it would be in for me to pick up. They eventually cancelled the order. The Warhammer guy was really nice about it at least.
The tournaments and pre releases I've attended there have been packed and hectic, I don't know if they're over selling their space or what but it's been chaos every time and impossible to move.
I've given them SO many chances and they've blown literally every single one of them. I have literally never had a positive experience here. Thankfully other stores have opened in the area, though I'll drive literally anywhere else before going back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came here for 6 weeks in a row for Magic the Gathering events on Fridays (around Sept and Nov 2012). This was because I was new to the area and didn't know of any other places to go.
First off, the owner/manager is a cocky douche; he's just "better than you", you know? The staff are okay, but are probably pressured under the weight of his regime.
The store itself, especially the gaming area, is horrendously disgusting. You could not convince me that anyone has ever done anything in that store to clean anywhere. The floors are disgusting, the tables are disgusting, the people are.. disgusting.
Here's the thing: I got sick 4 out of the 6 times I went to that store before. I stopped going to this place once I realized that I was getting the cold/flu after playing Magic here. What do you know, I haven't been sick since. I mean, I'm a clean person and I wash my hands often enough, but that bathroom there is... nightmarish. Probably did me more harm than good to wash my hands in there.
I see another 5/5 review touting their good prize support at a tournament... that's like giving a grocery store 5/5 because they have food. All events I've been to have had good prize support, regardless of the location.
They DO have a good selection of games, I'll give them that, but at what cost?! Just look up other comic/game stores in Gaithersburg, Frederick, and Clarksburg. They're a little further out if you found Dream Wizards as your closest, but it's...
