The staff here is wonderful please do not blame them for my following complaints. This is one of the worst Aldi's I have ever been to and corporate should take a look into this store. It probably wouldn't seem so bad but there's another Aldi's 2 miles up in Rockville that is way better than this one and really makes a question if classism if not racism is at play here.
No matter what time of day you go to this Aldi's you will wait in the checkout line for 20+ minutes, the reason being is there is only one lane open and store associates take forever to open a second or third check out lane. They would rather waste your time then help the customer. The store is also sometimes dirty and disorganized.
The store in Rockville is a complete 180 from this one. That story is always clean and well organized and they always have two to three lanes open so people aren't waiting and wasting your time. The Rockville I guess is a more higher-end neighborhood maybe more like people middle class upper middle class so being that all these is a German store in origin maybe there's some classes I'm going on because that's always been an issue with Europe but I also noticed that the store in Kensington is more diverse more of a working class lower middle class demographic so I wonder if it's not racism at play somewhat too.
I will say please do not blame the workers They are wonderful hard-working people every time I go into the store they are super nice I don't want anybody to get in trouble They are doing the best they can I feel that they are set up to fail bike corporate Aldi's. I feel like if Aldi's Kensington the store I'm speaking about had more resources they would make sure everyone got in and out of the store as fast as possible and had a great shopping experience. I'm not trying to criticize but I've shopped here for over a year now and it always takes 20 plus minutes to get in and out of this store and I have not encountered that at other Aldi's. All these can get busy but usually if you go at the right time you can get in and out of the store but you cannot do that at this all these in Kensington because they are...
Read moreI’m a big Aldi fan and have shopped at many different Aldi stores over the years. This one became my go-to when it opened within a few minutes of where I live.
Unfortunately, I wish it were run like some of the other Aldis I’ve had the pleasure of patronizing. The workers consistently park loads of pallets in the middle of the aisle. If we’re lucky, a cart can very carefully squeeze by…but sometimes we’re not lucky. Worse, when you try to get through, many of the workers treat you as if you were inconveniencing them, instead of the other way around. One particularly bad day I had to walk all the way to the next aisle just to get through, only to find another pallet load blocking that aisle. And the employee looked at me and told me to go to the next aisle to go around! Sadly, this is not an abnormal occurrence. I’ve been told by a friend who works as a manager in another state that blocking aisles like that is against store policy, but if that’s true, no one here seems to care.
I won’t even mention the man that regularly tries to sell you sandwiches from his car trunk as you exit the store, or the group of men who have lately started harassing me for my cart so they can take my quarter…
All that said, some of the employees are very kind, and honestly I’ll continue shopping here for now because my wallet needs the Aldi prices and my time is valuable. But I do wish customer service was also valued and taught at this location, as I’ve seen it so wonderfully done at...
Read moreI’m genuinely shocked at the condition of this Aldi location on Nicholson Lane. The overall lack of cleanliness is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about food safety.
First, there was expired food still on the shelves—well past the expiration date. Several vegetables were visibly rotting and clearly had been left there far too long. The meat section was the worst—the shelves were stained with what appeared to be blood, and it was clear no one has deep-cleaned that area in days, if not longer.
Shelves across the store were nearly empty, and what was left appeared to be thrown on haphazardly. I even saw an employee place a large, heavy bag of potatoes directly on top of a bundle of celery—crushing it without a second thought. That kind of carelessness with fresh produce shows a complete disregard for quality or customer experience.
To top it off, the floors throughout the store were filthy, as if no one has mopped or swept in days. This isn’t just about presentation—it’s a health issue.
I expect better from Aldi, and this store in particular needs a serious audit of its sanitation practices and staff training. Customers shouldn’t have to worry about expired food, cross-contamination, or slipping on dirty floors...
