Fair Winds Hot Air Balloon Flights — Attraction in Erie

I recently booked a ride with Fair Winds and I’m completely glad that I did. After talking with Jeff about wanting to take my boyfriend up for a flight, we settled on a Saturday morning flight that looked as if the weather was going to work. Ballooning requires a lot of patience in order to have the best possible weather and after receiving a phone call the previous day, I was excited that we were ago! We got up early to be at the site by 7:30. A simple breakfast spread of muffins and coffee was ready to go when we arrived. We then watched the crews inflate several balloons that had all shown-up to enjoy this perfect morning. After standing the balloon upright, Jeff told us to “climb aboard,” and the entire group got situated for the hour-long flight. The views from above were incredible! The mountains already had a nice dusting of snow and the sun highlighted them perfected. Jeff rotated the balloon several times so that we could get the best possible photos to remember this experience forever. And by the way: although I’m terrified of heights, the feeling of being in a balloon is not scary at all! You feel perfectly safe and secure. And other than the burner sound fired every once in awhile, it’s really peaceful. Well, after flying for awhile, Jeff brought us down close to the ground for a nice landing. Luckily, the balloon crew arrived shortly after we did to pack the balloon. (It’s surprising how quickly it all gets packed away.) Within half an hour after landing, we were loaded into the van and driven back to the launch site. As a memento, everyone received a “goodie” bag. I won’t spoil the surprises, but it was a nice take away for an outstanding morning. I’m not sure when I’ll fly again, but I’m thinking about taking my folks for a balloon ride. And if I do, I’m going to call Fair Winds! Thank you...

Being somewhat scared of heights, I was hesitant to ever try a Hot Air Balloon Ride. However, when my brother and his girlfriend mentioned they'd love to go on a flight with my boyfriend and me, we started looking around at companies. I was super impressed by Fair Winds' service, prices, and availability and was able to book a flight on a day convenient for us. We were told that due to safety precautions, flights may be cancelled and rescheduled. Unfortunately, the weather was concerning the morning of our scheduled flight, and Jeff called us the night prior to say he was watching the weather closely and would call us in the morning if it was cancelled. We received a call early that morning that the winds were too unpredictable to safely have us fly and that we would reschedule. He quickly rescheduled us, and we were luckily able to go that next time. I was extremely appreciative that Jeff wouldn't take us up in the balloon if the weather was anything less than desirable (and safe!). Our service before, during, and after the flight was impeccable. All of the employees and the passengers were incredibly positive and lovely to be around. I thought I would be nervous and anxious on the flight, but I felt safe in the trusting hands of Jeff. We were able to see the entire Front Range, and we had great conversations while up in the balloon. The weather was beautiful, though we were told to have plenty of layers because of the unpredictability of Colorado's weather (shorts and winter jackets are common around here!). Since our flight, I've recommended several of my friends and family to Fair Winds, and they've had equally positive experiences well worth the investment! Definitely will be going...

LEEEETS GOOOOO!!! I had an incredible experience with Fair Winds Hot Air Balloon Flights! From the start, we were warmly welcomed by Jen and Jeff, whose smiles and friendly energy set the tone for the day. I also appreciated the thoughtful touch of morning snacks, especially since I hadn’t had time for breakfast.

Our crew—Kenny, Jackie, and CJ—was absolutely fantastic. They were kind, funny, engaging, and shared great stories throughout the flight. I especially enjoyed being able to participate in both setting up and packing away the balloon—it really added to the overall experience. Jackie deserves a special mention for her photography skills, capturing a wonderful keepsake photo. The gift bag with a t-shirt, champagne, pin, and other thoughtful items was such a nice surprise and made the day feel even more special.

This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll always remember. My only piece of constructive feedback would be for Brian, who is currently training to fly balloons. At times, he came across as a bit bossy and dismissive in front of guests. For example, when someone mentioned being careful not to step on their phone, his response was, “well don’t put your phone on the ground.” While I understand the point, the delivery felt unnecessarily sharp. With just a bit more mindfulness in tone and approach, he will be a wonderful addition to the team.

Overall, the experience was outstanding—full of professionalism, teamwork, and camaraderie. Thank you to everyone at Fair Winds! I will absolutely be recommending this to family and friends and look forward to returning...
