My experience with this hotel was the worst ever!!! First of all, it was fraudulent having a sign outside stating that it was a Fairfield Inn when it was still not! Management has taken advantage of customers during their renovation when they should have closed down for a few days until they were done with some issues. I came here because my car broke down in the area and it needed repairs into the next day. The hotel was going through renovations and when I checked in, I asked if they had a discount because of it. They told me 'no', it didn't apply to me...only to 'certain rooms'. Well, because I was without a car, I stayed there. After checking in, I was told that they would be testing the alarms in the room and hallway but it would not last that long. I went to my room, and shortly after, the alarms in the room went off...for about 5 minutes. About a half hour later, I received a call from the main desk stating that Edison was working on an issue and that we would not have power from midnight to 5 am, but guaranteed that we would have power by that time. I didn't have a car to go anywhere else, and thought that I would sleep through it. Not thinking about ventilation and how hot, stuffy and sweltery a room can get without A/C, I woke up around 5 am to pitch black, no air conditioning working, no lights to take a shower, etc. I had to walk around my room with my cell phone flash light! I decided to leave around 5:30, had to walk down the hallway, and down the stairs (no safety!!!) with my cell phone flashlight! I came to the front desk, demanding that I speak to a manager, and I was told that it was still too early for one. The guy told me to leave my name and email address and that I would be compensated for the night-from-hell. I was compensated $28!!!!! I called the general manager, and she said that she could compensate me for a room at this hotel, but that I had to use it within 2 weeks! Why would I want to come back to Montebello as a 'destination vacation'? I live an hour away, and the only reason that I was there was because my car broke down! I have gone back and forth with management regarding this horrifying experience where they took advantage of customers and expected to be paid top dollar for it! To date, there has been NO COMPENSATION! All I get are excuses, and asking me to be patient! This happened in March, 2016, and it's almost July! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! IT HAS THE SAME MANAGEMENT BEFORE THE...
Read moreI just moved to California from NYC as a Marriott Supervisor. The front desk did not know this information and profiled me. I've been working for the Marriott for 5 years and never had this treatment checking into any hotel. Irene front desk agent went ahead by first stating, My friend was not allow to place his card on file for payment because the reservation was not under his name. Never in my years of working for Marriott had I ever heard of this. She claimed it was her properties rules and would not let me check in with my friend. She said if I paid with cash for the stay the deposit would be $200 but with card its $50. I made a call the the Marriott desk to explain the type of treatment I was receiving as a Marriott Employee. I walked back into the hotel with the Marriott associate on the line and ''all of a sudden'' they were able to take the card. She then puts a extra $200 hold on my friend's card for incidentals when I was clearly informed that the hold was only given if cash was used. I am here for 3 days and feel angry and disappointed. I expected better. She also wrote on the keycard non smoking to specify that this is a smoke free hotel. Once again. We as a Marriott cooperation were taught to never write that on keypads. I am a black man. I have a lot of tattoos. I have dreadlocks but NEVER should I be profiled the way I just was. Unacceptable and I will not be returning...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for four nights, and unfortunately, housekeeping never came to our room once during our entire stay. No clean towels, no made bed, no trash removal — nothing. On the fourth night, I finally went to the front desk to ask how often rooms are cleaned, and I was told, “every two days.” I explained that it had been four days without any service. The front desk agent apologized and handed us clean towels, which we then had to carry back up ourselves because we were on our way out to our last event of the trip.||He asked if we had placed the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door — which was frustrating — because we absolutely had not. We were out of the room for most of the day, every day, participating in activities, so there was more than enough opportunity for housekeeping to come by.||It’s incredibly disappointing to be on vacation and have to chase down clean towels or ask why your room hasn’t been touched in days. The hotel’s own policy says to leave towels on the floor for replacement, which we did — yet when we returned late that evening, they were still there, and we had no choice but to reuse them.||Going four full nights without even a basic housekeeping visit is unacceptable and left a very...
