I preorded a game from them and I never got it (Game was $80). Went to the store to see where it was and I find out that they never ordered it, didn't even bother to order it or ever follow up on it. OK, I'm annoyed but things happen. I spoke with the manager Collin and he said he can put the money back on the card that I paid with so he did something in the system and then re-ran my card. The next day I look at my account and instead of crediting my bank account he instead charged me again. So now I'm out double the money and still don't have the item. Went and talked to him and was first told I could only get store credit. I told him so far Game Kastle has taken $160 and has not giving me a single thing in return, store credit is unacceptable. He said he can't authorize a refund and needed to contact corporate. Have to wait another few days and he calls and say that he can refund the original purchase in cash but I have to contact my bank and put in a fraud request because there is no way his system can reverse these types of charges. Getting angry but keep my cool and said OK, I'll pick up the cash and contact my bank. When I went to get the cash Collin wasn't there so the person working the counter looked at the notes and was unsure how to proceed which was understandable, if a random person walked in and said can I have $80 cash even with the notes I would look sideways, so the guy at the counter called Collin and put him on speaker phone where I had to remind him what it was all about (even though he just recently called me about it). He keep saying "well I have to to make sure I just don't give anyone cash" on speaker phone where the whole store can hear. I felt really embarrassed being treated like someone who is trying to scam them and really confused and how Collin doesn't remember this, but they gave me my original $80 back and now I have to go to my bank for the other $80. So, I then contacted my bank and had to wait three weeks to hear back. After a couple of calls with the bank, they told me that this is a vender error doesn't constitute fraud and that the vender is responsible for for refunding the money. So yet again I'm going back to the store to talk with Collin, he tells me that there isn't anything they can do and it is the bank responsibility for this (doesn't even offer me store credit at this point which I was so tired by this time I would have taken it). So, I voice my frustration about this and he keeps telling me there is nothing he can do, I ask him to call someone so he goes in the office and calls the owner. Collin comes back and tells me that the owner said "there is no way for you give him cash" and that I need to take it up with my bank. I have to say, hearing g the owner just say this bluntly like I'm the one who is trying g to scam them and this the owner's response for a situation that they caused - twice - is mind boggling. Game Kastle is the one who didn't order my product and they are the one who charged my instead of refunding me and yet it is my bank's and my responsibility to correct this??? I'm sorry we stole you money now you deal with it??? I also asked for a number to contact corporate or the owner and Collin just said "I can't give out personal information." so there is no one I can contact above Collin to argue this. I am now going to go back to my bank and ask them to reopen the fraud investigation because now that is what is going on. They told me they were going to credit me and instead took my money and refuse to give it back, which is either fraud or theft. I will never step foot in another Game Kastle for the rest of my life, if you need a game store in the Sacramento area please go to somewhere else, there are a number of other games store that won't...
Read morevery corporate and unfriendly atmosphere. things are marked up like crazy such as a d&d book collection for 160 dollars over the usual 90 something dollars found online. card sleeves behind the counter are unmarked in price, but come to be significantly more expensive than you'd expect by the time you are rung up.
as for the staff, they are clearly more worried about following the current mandate regarding masks than providing a welcoming experience. i have heard multiple people arrive at the store only to be instantly asked if they have a mask. no "hi, we have tables in the back if you want" or "hi, welcome to our store". nothing of the sort. these people had their walk-in experience make them feel like they've done something wrong and have been judged by the soulless workers there who most likely don't care if they sell anything, as long as their terrible tournaments are able to be run and the participants get advertisements fed to them during.
tldr: unwelcoming staff who are disinterested in the customer or in providing a nice atmosphere. prices are ludicrous to the point of being insulting. got ripped off once, never buying a...
Read moreA large group of us played a notoriously long game (Twilight Imperium) for over 8hrs, and found the facilities to be excellent. The prices here are a teeny bit higher than our usual spot, but wow, it's worth it! The chairs are super comfortable, the tables were large enough to accommodate a very large game, and the whole of the shop is very clean. As the only woman in my gaming group we are all keenly aware of how hostile many businesses are towards women. Game Kastle has a very friendly atmosphere, and while I only saw too other females (a woman in her fifties and a young girl) I never got the sense of being unsafe. That fact alone will have us returning for another all-day gaming experience. Thanks for a great say,...
