Purchased some items out of state while on vacation and was told by that associate that I can return the items anywhere, any GNC store within 30days with receipt. Walked into this Klamath store, the associate was very nice and did the best he could to his knowledge. I explained my ordeal, had the receipt and items in the GNC bag from last week. The associate called his manager for an answer if he was able to do the return or not since it was from out of state. I can hear the manager through his phone explaining to tell me that this is a family owned franchise store and they could not take my return because they didn't know if I had purchased from a family owned or corporate store, let alone that I bought it out of state. The associate did mention that I could do an exchange, but I did not want to. I showed him the back of the receipt, as it explains GNC's policies and returns. I got the same spiel that they're a family owned business and they would take the hit of cost. He offered to call the owner(who only comes in once a month he stated), who didn't answer, and apologized for the whole thing. As I was packing my items and receipt, I noticed on their cash register counters was the EXACT same policy as my receipt and brought it to his attention. He called the manager back explaining what I saw, and still could not process my refund. The associate referred me to Medford, but unsure if they were franchised or corporate run.
First off, there is no where on the doors nor within the store that clarifies if they are a "family owned" or "corporate" GNC. There are also no difference in policies stated anywhere within the store that they are different from any other GNC, yet the national policies(verified on the GNC.com website, verbatim) were on their cashier counters.
Second, I called the Medford location to see if they would accept my return and explained the current situation at this Klamath store...he LAUGHED and apologized for Klamath. Stating "that's not true, they just don't want to take the hit" and apologized again for having to schlepp over the hill for this. He also gave me the corporate customer service number, which I will gladly call on my experience at this Klamath store.
The one star is really only for the sales associate at the Klamath store who tried to do everything that he could to the best...
