Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The cake tasting began with the owner showing up 30 minutes late. Once we sat down, we were interrupted several times, and when I asked a basic question, it was dismissed as “cheap,” which made both of us uncomfortable continuing to ask anything. My fiancé’s last name was also mocked for “not pronouncing it Hispanic enough,” which was inappropriate and offensive. He rushed the entire cake tasting process. At the end after paying, he got up no congratulations or anything. Immediately pressured us into posing for social media content, even after clearly stating multiple times that we are not comfortable being posted online.
We were handed a form to sign, which we thought was just for selecting flavors and confirming our contact info. At no point were we verbally told that 40% of the payment would be non-refundable. That clause was buried in fine print, and we were not walked through any of the terms. We paid in good faith.
I called five days later to cancel due to such an uncomfortable experience we had and change in plans. I wasn’t mentioned about losing the 40% until I asked the girl at the end of the call “Perfect and when should I be expecting the refund” all she said was I will put the girl in the cancelation pille. I asked her if she could specify the steps so that we could know what to expect, that is when she finally stated that we’d lose half of what we paid for our order all the way out in November, 8 months in advance. I explained how our situation went and she told me she would have the owner call me, I told her I appreciated her help and that I understand that she is just doing her job. The owner texted me saying due to “fairness to all clients” they do not do full refunds, but where was the fairness in how we were treated. We were treated completely unfairly and not how other customers get treated. They eventually said they’d give us a partial refund, charging us for the cake tasting and not refunding the tip which we understood. We sent our Zelle info as requested, but the refund was never sent. We followed up by both text and several phone calls, and were completely ignored for over a week now.
It’s unfortunate that what should have been an exciting part of our wedding turned into such a negative experience. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and disrespect made this situation unnecessarily stressful. My family and friends won’t be back after this and other recent...

I hired M.E.B. Cakes as part of a package through Houston's Ballroom for my daughter’s quinceañera on April 26, 2025. During the planning process, I met with M.E.B. Cakes and carefully designed the cake, including selecting a specific color (see attached references) and agreeing to pay an extra $20 for them to provide and decorate it with flowers.
On the day of the event, they delivered a cake that was completely the wrong color—a dark green that clashed with the quinceañera dress and the entire ballroom decor. Worse, it had zero decorations, despite the agreement. When asked, they said they “couldn’t find the right decoration.” Only after the event began did the owner scramble to buy whatever artificial flower he could find as a last-minute fix—completely unprofessional and not what we paid for.
After the party, I brought the issue up with Houston's Ballroom, who passed the blame entirely to M.E.B. Cakes. When I visited the bakery directly to discuss compensation, they claimed that the color issue was due to the weather, which a second professional bakery confirmed would never result in such a drastic color error.
M.E.B. Cakes offered me only another cake for a future event, despite me requesting a reasonable $200 refund or compensation. Since we have no other events planned, this offer was useless. They refused to provide a refund or take financial responsibility for the mistake.
Both Houston’s Ballroom and M.E.B. Cakes failed to deliver on what was promised, and neither stood up to fix it in a meaningful way. I strongly urge others to be cautious when working with either of these businesses for...
Read moreI was forced to use this baker as a part of my wedding venue package. I won’t mention the venue name because honestly everything else besides the baker was awesome. Let’s start with my consultation. When me and my then fiancé arrived Miguel asked what our cake Vision was and as I started to show pictures and explain, it became very negative. There were so many “No that’s not included or that’ll be extra” I felt shut down and confused about why ask what my vision was when there were clear stipulations in package. Fast forward tears (yes, I got emotional from the negativity and stress) and conversation about wanting to reschedule, he started asking questions pertaining to what was included and sketched out a gorgeous cake to our liking. Then he assured me he could incorporate our wedding colors (Tiffany blue and rose gold) in the cake and we confirmed the flavors for each tier. Here comes the wedding day and I see my cake with royal blue icing 😡 this isn’t even close to Tiffany blue. I honestly would of taken sky blue or baby blue. And my wedding coordinator then tells me there is no togo box for my 4 tier cake. At the end of the night the cake was thrown away by the waitstaff due to no box from the baker. We noticed the tier we cut into was wrong as it should have had strawberry filling as stated on the signed design. We addressed all these issues for Miguel to try and turn the tables to make it seem like we were being difficult and looking to be upset. That was not the case. He literally was the only vendor that gave us issues and lucky it didn’t ruin my wedding day but he ruined my wedding cake experience....
