Went to shop looking to buy some American Ginseng. There were little boxes of ready packed ginseng on the shelves. There were also tall buckets of loose ginseng below the shelves. As I was wanting to buy 2 pounds of American Ginseng and have them slice the roots for me, I asked if the ones in the buckets were American ginseng as there was no signs indicating the place of origin. Ginseng from China is a world of differnce from the ones grew locally here in the US. The male worker (him and wife are running the store) responded, "Why do you ask?"..."if you don't want to buy those, don't ask"..... "there are boxes of ginseng on the shelves, you can buy those". ..."If you don't trust me, don't buy from me"!! So I asked him the origin of those ginseng in the buckets. He said "US"..I asked "which state"... He didn't know. I concluded he wasn't honest about his products. He can't name the origin of the ginseng despite having run the store for over a decade? I am wondering why labeling isn't madated on products in Chinese Herb Stores? Chinese Herb Stores get away with so much all the time for decades. This store did not even have a certificate recognizing it as a American Ginseng Distributor. Not sure if distributors of these pricey roots...
