I had a bad experience with these guys, but I will say the past reviews are fairly accurate in the fact that they are nice guys. They listen to the customer and seem helpful. My problem has to do with data recovery. I had a PC that was in a boot loop. Meaning the drive would would get stuck and windows was unable to load. I took it to these guys hoping to get it out of its boot loop as this was beyond my level of expertise. They took the machine in and said they will contact me in next day or two. I was contacted via email to purchase a new hard drive off Amazon and they would attempt transferring data over to the new drive. All sounded great. After a week or longer, I called and it was ready. I was told they were able to recover most of the data, which I was happy about. But I was told it might look different. I found this odd. Anyway, I paid my $290 and took it home. What I found was a jumbled mess of files. A lot of .jpgs were salvaged, but most .pdf, Word and Excel docs wouldn’t open and were corrupted. Plus, there was no structure to the folders or file names. Word docs listed as File.01, File.02…and so on. I called them back and they said to bring it back and they would try again as they had a power outage over the weekend as it was transferring and that could be the issue. I did and they performed another attempt to transfer. This time the result was worse. I originally had thousands of Word docs on there, but only a few hundred were recovered. All .pdf corrupted and would not open. I was not happy. I spoke with the owner and asked for a refund or partial refund since I got nothing from their work. I was willing to pay a small fee for some of their time, but $290 was unreasonable for what I got, nothing. The owner explained I had already gotten a deal (news to me) as the $290 was already a discounted rate, and blatantly said NO to a refund. Unwilling to negotiate any type of refund. I was told that’s just the way data recovery goes sometimes. Also, I was never provided an estimate of what their version of data recovery cost. Oh well right? No, I knew better, as I’ve had data recovery done in the past, and the end result was a catalogued image of what the old file structure looked like. I took it to a professional data recovery service and they have been able to return what I had expected to begin with. I wanted to stay local and help a local business. But what I got in return was an expensive nightmare. So, stay away from these guys if you have something...
Read moreBrought my desktop here on a Wednesday for a simple case swap (2 hour labor max). Told them I needed it by Friday evening, Sat morning at the latest and to call me if there were any parts issues so that I could get parts ordered.
Call Friday around noon for an update. No answer. No call back. Call Saturday morning and told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Get there after an hour and I was told that they weren't finished and that they couldn't get it to turn on and didn't know what the problem was.
Took it to a place in Gainesville that I had been to before and he laughed when he opened the case because he said he saw 5 problems right off the bat. He called me back in an hour and 30 minutes after he had completed the problem fix.
The reason why they couldn't get it to start is because they crossed wires that blew the power supply. He said I was lucky that was the only thing. He had to rebuild the entire thing. So I had to pay $90 for a new power supply and didn't have the computer ready until Monday.
Just overall a bad experience and won't be coming back. Would rather drive to Gainesville to a place I know and trust with...
