Horrible experience yesterday!!! I had gone to get a hair cut at Great Clips a couple of doors down and afterwards I noticed the place for the first time. My fiancé and I just moved to Amelia and I have been looking for a fun place to watch games and enjoy. I stopped in to ask for a to-go menu. The bartender was standing talking to an employee behind the bar with his back to me for about 4 minutes when I approached. After I stood waiting patiently, he turned around and acknowledge me and I asked for a menu to take with me. He obliged, I was at that point... excited about a new regular place to visit and enjoy. I explained this excitement to my fiancé and she was also looking forward to a new place. Once we find something we love we go several times a week. We went at close to 5pm. We opened the door and were greeted by a departing guest who smiled and said "Hi." Who was not wearing a mask We entered and headed towards 2 open seats at the bar. I passed a man sitting at the bar with a grey beard who was the same person who I had spoke with earlier about coming back in. He had said earlier " come back in and watch the game". I passed him rounding the bar to the seats available and he immediately verbally attacked my fiancé about not wearing a mask and proceeded to project his displeasure with us walking from the door to the bar with no mask and reciting the "rules" of the place that were supposedly clearly posted on the door. Everyone in the place was staring at us at this point. She was told "If you get up from your seat to go to the bathroom you have to wear a mask". I sat there at the bar as my medical field trained fiancé was badgered about a mask for more than 5 minutes literally in shock. I had walked in with a lemonade I had in my hand which was nearly empty and I had sat it down to decide what I was going to order and the bartender who apparently was following her rude and disgusting unprofessional lead from what appears to be the owner grabbed my cup and started to walk away with it and I said that's mine. She said in a very rude condescending voice " what is it?!" I said " its coolaid lemonade" she then decides to tell me "we don't allow outside drinks" at that point I looked at my fiancé and said " let's go!" What a total disaster. Two people who do not have a clue about how to treat a customer have lost 2 great patrons forever along with all of our friends who would not set foot in a place that doesn't know how to speak to people. The man said " it says all this on the door !" Actually all it says on the door is that masked are required and if you don't have one or have a problem wearing one we will assist you. When we entered the lady exiting did not have a mask on and no one in the establishment that we could see were wearing a mask. I understand during these times the importance of protecting one's self and others. As I previously indicated my fiance is in the medical profession. It was the matter of complete ignorance and unprofessionalism! Rudeness that was absolutely appalling to us. I believe this was the owner! Really?! You serve the public and depend on them for your income for a living and this is how you treat them??? I was in customer service for 2 decades and I know what is acceptable and this is far from it ! I guess he has enough business to not worry about passing off 2 new customers who would have been there several times a week. As well as bringing friends and family to the establishment. We were embarrassed and disgusted by the attitude and behavior of the owner and bartender! First impressions are everything. I noticed the owner has replied and made this about me bringing in and outside drink. I walked directly in front of the owner with my "lemonade" in hand not a liquor drink and he said nothing to me. If it were an issue why did he not...
Read moreI came in recently and placed an order to go, enjoying a moment at the bar with a cold beer as I waited. The owner, Tom, who was working behind the bar, graciously took my order, even offering to cut up my kids’ pizza into manageable slices for their tiny hands. I then watched, slightly amused, as another customer, seated a couple of stools down, began complaining about how long her order was taking. Now, I don’t want to assume anyone else’s level of personal happiness, and god knows we all have good days and bad days, but some folks were just born with a perpetual rain cloud over their heads, and this lady, well she fit the bill, looking like she probably hadn’t smiled since the fall of the Berlin Wall or maybe since her late husband’s death was ruled an “accident” by the coroner. Any way, Tom immediately stopped what he was doing, raced back to the kitchen, and then, moments later hand delivered her hot pizza, kindly explaining that it had really only been 20 minutes since she had placed her order and that all of the items were made from scratch, so, you know, that takes a little time. Crises averted, or, so it seemed, but, wouldn’t you know it, not even five minutes had passed before this curmudgeon of a patron began complaining yet again, only this time, it was about her pizza being “too cheesy.” Now, imagine being the type of person who complains about the amount of cheese on your pizza. To me, that’s like complaining that water is too wet or that the seggs is too good. Any way, in light of this woman’s second and very vocal complaint, Tom briefly paused, took a moment to compose himself, and then, like a patron saint, offered to pay for the woman’s meal. Now, it’s not often that you get to witness firsthand an act of humility like that in a public sphere and it nearly brought me to tears. Frankly, we could all learn something from this situation, especially in this politically-charged day and age. I mean, of all the things that Tom could’ve said, my man chose to take the higher road. And to top it off, he only asked one thing of the woman in return…that she never step foot in the restaurant again. 10/10 experience, I will be coming back....
Read moreLet me start by saying there was nothing wrong with our food it’s the service and manager that made this review so low. We were a party of 8 celebrating my daughter’s graduation from high school. She was in town for the weekend and this was her last night before heading back, after most of our party left and my daughter and I were waiting to pay the bill a young lady comes by asking if she can clear the table. We of course tell her she can and she start gathering up all of the cups of drinks from the table. She ends up dropping all the cups and soaks my daughter in tea and coke, not a little it was a lot, her face, her hair her shirt was ruined and her pants all wet and sticky. The girl apologized and I know she meant it but the damage was done. I asked to speak to a manager as I felt the restaurant had really messed up even if it was unintentional it doesn’t change the fact they had caused the accident to happen. After waiting for way to long and my daughter leaving out of embarrassment finally a manger came to talk to me. First thing she said wasn’t I’m so sorry that happened, it was “accidents happen” and all we can do is comp your cannoli. I explained to her what happened as I figured she must not have realized how bad the situation was but to my surprise and anger she stuck to “accidents happen and that’s all we can do” . Seriously? On a $90 dollar bill all you can offer is the 5 dollars off the dessert??? I said forget it and left with no intention of returning, the manager must not have been thinking there are 4 or 5 other pizza places on the island and it’s a small island, do yourself a favor and go somewhere they appreciate your business because obviously they care more about profit then their customers...
