This mall is okay, I like it and wouldn't avoid it. The anchor stores are Sears, Macy's and JC Penny. Northlake is a good place to visit for cheap and colorful nightclub clothing and casual clothes. It's not a fancy mall like Lenox, but it works. Great variety of stores and many are owner operated. I would say you can find what you're looking for here. The men's department in JC Penny has a good selection of business shirts and ties in unique colors and patterns. I wouldn't recommend buying eye glasses at JC Penny because the optical department is poorly managed, so go to Sears for that. Northlake is a good place to find someone to fix your watch, buy shoes, or repair your cracked phone screen. Very accessible to public transportation, although if you're walking the area isn't extremely friendly as few sidewalks have been build around the mall complex. In the food court bathroom there is a small vending machine for tampons/pads but some misinformed person decided to stock it with bubblegum and other nonsense. Maybe they are confounded by the idea of tampons and pads; bubblegum really doesn't work the same way, you Northlake people. This is causing the mall to lose business as some of us have to unexpectedly leave to buy supplies. The decor is nice enough. I wouldn't call it a dead mall. Review...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is struggling and struggling hard. I stopped at this mall to make a visit at Kohl's and Macy's and when I walked in, it had a certain atmosphere that makes you think this place is going to die soon. Macy's, which is one of the anchor tenants, just isn't the same as any other Macy's. The men's stuff was extremely limited and the same probably could be said about the other departments. Just not the same. Kohl's on the other hand was fairly big, clean, and well run.
I stopped at the food court to see what that situation was like, and it had some generic mall food such as Mexican, Chinese, and pizza. Business must be tough because the guys behind the counter will be gunning for your business hard. Free samples galore and they will guilt you to make a purchase - be ready.
Other than that, the mall is filled with some pretty generic stores that you probably never heard of. Clothing, newspaper stands, etc. The good? It's not that busy. You can have a pretty peaceful shopping experience here - we've all gotten a headache from a jam packed mall before. You won't get there here. The bad? Well, the selection and shopping experience isn't the best. So make sure you come in with the right expectations, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here for the first time the weekend before Christmas and the mall was empty! It blew my mind. Then I realize the only stores I recognized were Macys and JC Penny and Victoria's secret and bath and body works. All the other stores looked like they belonged in a flea market. I found it curious that this mall contained none of the typical chain stores.
The food court was dark and dingy with about 5 places to choose from none of which I recognized. Biggest turn off was the shoe repair shop sitting in the middle of the food court. How is anyone supposed to eat while staring at a bunch of dirty shoes in various stages of disrepair?
I saw that there was a payless shoe store that was closed down way in the back of the mall. How the heck does a payless close down? Blew my mind. How is this mall still open? I guess Macy's is what's keeping it alive. There are a bunch of plants scattered around the mall most of them dead. Management does not bother with upkeep. I guess because they know this place will...
