Favorite yoga studio I've found in Atlanta. If you're looking for an authentic, inclusive, accessible, NOT DECONTEXTUALIZED "YOGA" /POWER FLOW (but many super challenging authentically vinyasa and fitness classes!), calming, feel-amazing-and-strong, and safe yoga classes - ranging from yin and restorative to strengthening faster paced flow classes... this is it. I shopped around so much in Atlanta, and only at PMY did I find the environment and the QUALITY of teachers and classes I was looking for. The classes are holistic, focused on mind/heart/body - not just body - and in a RESPECTFUL, thoughtful, skillful way. People are FRIENDLY and it feels like a community, unlike other studios where no one talks to each other and you feel embarrassed to lag behind. I feel horrible for people who's first exposure to yoga is the super fast paced hot yoga of other popular studios in town, instructor yelling at you and a fitness vibe... this is not that. It is peaceful. It is great practice. Some fave teachers are Catherine (Thursday nights), Leigh, Angelica, and Ashley. Many others. I am so grateful to...
Read moreI love this studio. It is a very calming atmosphere and beautiful space. There is a patio outside with a lovely fountain that gets you in the right mindset for yoga. I have gone to a number of different classes with different instructors, and have only had positive experiences here! There are great Yin classes, which are hard to find at a lot of studios. It's very relaxing but also gets a deep stretch which so many of us need. There are great options for beginners yoga as well as some flow classes that will push you a little more (I recommend Courteney's Wed evening if you want some strengthening!). Additionally - I definitely recommend the Friday evening "Yin and Vin" which is a relaxing class followed by a very inclusive and chill hang out (with wine). I am a Y&V regular and have met some great people here.
Definitely would recommend this studio for all-comers to yoga - beginners and more...
Read moreI’ve been to 10 or so yoga studios in the area since moving to Atlanta a decade ago but never stayed at one for more than 6 months. Instead, I bounced back and forth between studios with challenging classes but aloof atmospheres and studios with warm atmospheres but uninspiring classes. Two years ago, I discovered Pure Motion, and it has been my yoga home ever since. The community at Pure Motion embraces persons of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive. Every class meets the needs of beginners as well as longtime yoga practitioners. And the instructors provide a consistent and wholistic approach to fitness that has deepened my yoga practice and given me a healthier, stronger body. I highly recommend...
