I just feel even a cruise ship has better value for your play. I know when a place is busy it's a good thing, but then I feel like places that are not/underrated gems are much better.
Pretty all around place. The staff can be pretty obnoxious, not all but some just like to pick on people for no reason. I like places like barona, red rock, and even Wynn much better.
Don’t really get why people say this is the #1 locals casinos when places such as Palms, red rock, Durango, sunset, even Suncoast and Aliante is way more luxurious. I feel places such as Aria, Cosmo, and even resorts world has better clientele.
Expect it to be busy pretty much everyday of the year.
Gambling is ok but it’s so busy all the time, you don’t feel relaxed imo. (Did get a cool win on my favorite slot). Still I got a better win at alainte and palms by themselves alone so lmao.
Plus with all the clientele from locals and tourists it’s hard to be able to enjoy the atmosphere.
This place doesn't give out much comps, but the food, hotel, and it amenities are pretty cheap honestly. So I HIGHLY recommend playing somewhere else that has better comps (Pechanga is a good place)
Food wise, a lot of the stuff is pretty moderate honestly. I can say however the deli is good, movie theater is fine, steakhouse and prime rib place is awesome.
Anyway besides that what I really didn’t appreciate is when a cocktail waitress asked for my id when I am just putting all my tickets together so really didn’t like that. Made a huge inconvenience and I remember for next time who to not tip.
That’s too bad cause I consider myself to be generous, but not when I feel like I am being singled out so that’s why even rampart and aliante is better then this treatment.
End of the rant but on the plus side I do like his close this place is but I love the atmosphere at Durango more and feel like you can do better at station casinos and they can actually give comps of some value.
Don’t even bother with silverton few blocks away.
I suggest going to the high end Durango casino that pays more frequently.
Update: Drink servers are really annoying and bother you, especially if you dress like a kid or something “unprofessional” I get that alcohol and all that bar stuff has laws/rules, but I don’t appreciate constantly being asked for id when I don’t even drink alcohol. It just makes me not want drinks even more plus the atmosphere is already low class, similar to Yaamava.
Durango, red rock and Pechanga is so much better.
But never have I hated a place so much because the gambling is bad and the people are so obnoxious, so many people keep hogging slots and are being weird and selfish. No class whatsoever.
However the prime rib place is fantastic and that along with the movie theater I would recommend this place plus some others. Otherwise don’t gamble here unless you play low and don’t care for comps.
Other casinos and Pechanga treat you much better...
Read moreI actually really enjoyed this casino, but it has a major drawback I will cover at the end.
The casino is located about 18min from the strip, and honestly, it was the most enjoyable casino we visited, and the only one we went to multiple times. I was told it's the 3rd largest casino in Vegas. There was a lot of choices for play, even when busy.
They have a large horse theme, and betting on horse races, and we were indifferent to those things.
The Garden Buffet was a cheap place to eat with moderate to good food. We went at 2:30pm and I think it cost us $20 each. It was the cheapest meal in Vegas we had, even cheaper than fast food. The price goes up slightly later in the day and features Prime Rib then. In order to get these prices you do need a casino players card. Those are free to sign up for, so even if you don't gamble it's worth it.
They do have other dining options including a Steak N Shake, but I found the buffet to be cheaper when I went.
There was one MAJOR drawback. We found this place from Treasure Island. They had people giving free tickets to Mystère by Cirque du Soleil in order to see their timeshare presentation. We knew it would be a high pressure sales pitch when we went in, and that was fine. Honestly, we loved the sales guy we were assigned. However, I didn't care for the rooms, having stayed in better at other resorts. I also did the actual math on what it would cost me, and NOT including the down payment, I was looking at $609 a night after considering taxes and monthly payment. With having to guarantee that I would stay a week every single year, I was not going to buy. At the end of the tour, they are required to try and sell you. Then the manager has to try and sell you. This is where the problem came.
The manager, I didn't catch her name, but she was a blonde lady, came and I told her I was not buying. She of course tried to sell me. I said no. She left for awhile and came back with a down payment offer of $10,000. I said no. She told me she was not going to beg for my business, picked up our slip that we have to have to leave, and went and sat at another table for on hour.
During this hour, my wife was experiencing a medical issue, but we were told we can't leave without our slip. Pretty sure our sales person was pissed too. After an hour he went and got her attention, and got our slip. Then we still had to do a few exit interviews.
The two hours we were promised when we signed up, became 3 hours when we got there, and became nearly 4 hours after this manager got involved.
Apparently, they try and punish people they don't like. This is from a staff member who told me stories about them leading people around for 6 hours, and doing other things. This manager decided to punish my wife in the middle of a medical emergency.
If you are staying here, I suggest you say HELL NO to...
Read moreIn May of 2025, my husband and I and my parents booked at the Southpoint.Casino. We were super excited to go there as we had been there before several years ago. A couple of weeks before arrival, my parents got ill so we canceled the room for four and asked if we could just book a room for two. Shortly after that the doctor gave my parents the clear to go so we phoned back to Expedia and let them know there would be four people in the room again. After that, Expedia had contacted the hotel directly and the hotel was kind enough to say that we will waive the charges for the extra two adults. That was very kind of the hotel and I remember my husband telling me and I thought that was so thoughtful. Anyway, long story short, after spending thousands of dollars at the South point casino, we came home with good memories of our trip. Fast forward, a little over a month later from coming back on our trip we noticed a charge on our MasterCard. We phoned MasterCard to see what it was and it was the Southpoint casino charging us extra charges. When we looked up what it was, the hotel had made the decision to charge us for the extra two people. We were wondering why this was done so we contacted the hotel as well as Expedia. Let's just say several phone calls later, several emails later and Expedia trying to go to bat for us, the Southpoint casino reneged on their gift for us and decided that it was okay to charge our MasterCard the $80 American. We cannot believe that all the money we dropped at this casino and the evidence on our file that states that the hotel was willing to not charge us the extra two adults because they knew the situation of my parents getting ill, that they went ahead and put a charge on our MasterCard without notification. We have been fighting this now since and cannot believe the disgusting customer service from the Southpoint casino. Expedia on the other hand has been amazing, but I can't believe the hotel being as big as it is that they were willing to lose customers over $80 American, which would be a small amount to the hotel but it was not to us. The sad part is now I know this will not be responded to by the hotel because we looked up all the other Google reviews and nothing was responded to. Let's just say this is not how I would run my company and when we go to Vegas again, we will be staying clear of the Southpoint casino and telling everyone else that we know, the same thing. I'm not in the habit of doing bad Google reviews and if you look up my reviews, I'm always saying positive things, but this was the most disgusting, frustrating customer service ever from a large hotel. Sad. P.s. my husband is reading the other reviews at this time and it seems this is not the first time customer service was an issue. Pay attention Southpoint casino or maybe look at your...
