Seriously awesome place for a host of reasons!
Their selection and pricing: Honestly, their selection is one of the widest I've seen! Not just in a brick-and-mortar store, but online as well. For a place without a huge physical footprint, their inventory is MASSIVE. If you enjoy retro gaming at all, I can't recommend a drive out their way highly enough! Looking for a hard-to-find game for a discontinued console or the console itself? START HERE (you'll be glad you did, they're super reasonable!).
Honesty and Integrity: Some of you may be asking, "Steve, you live a hot minute from Aloha—what dragged you out there?"
My saga begins with some **er who broke into my car over the holidays and stole my Playdate console and my passport. I'd reported the stolen console to Playdate's manufacturer, and they alerted me when someone tried to reset the system. Despite writing back to the purchaser(s) of my console many times, they never heard back.
UNTIL SOMEONE SOLD IT TO TAPPER'S. I reached out to Tapper's, who had already been alerted that it was stolen, and they were INCREDIBLY cool about giving it back. I asked how much they'd paid for it, and they responded with, "It's ok, just make sure to let everyone you know that we don't trade in stolen merchandise." (A stance for which I, for one, thank them!)
That said, incredibly cool people, a super well-stocked shop, and legit the kind of business that deserves every gamer's support. If not just for a visit, it really is an...

After coming to Tappers for three years, Mark, his family and the game shop, are the bee's knees! Always a pleasure and always welcoming. There is always something to see, be astonished and captivated. It's our favorite shop! We try to come here every other week. Thank you Mark and co, for a wonderful experience every-single-time.
10/2020 Had searched on Google for local game stores/shops, weeks ahead of time prior to moving to the state. Was excited and eager to pay a visit as having read the reviews, I was eagerly optimistic in meeting the owner (Mark) and checking the items he has in stock. Having also checked out their eBay page. After parking in a bad spot in front of their garage (rectified it), my wife and I went inside and perused their items. The prices for the items they had were not bad and were competitive for the area. After chatting for a bit (perhaps we came in a bad time, as he did not seem that eager, but it's understandable since we are non-locals), I had brought in a few games to trade in, to see what I would be able to get for them. He had looked up the prices on his computer (possibly VGPC), and I was a bit dismayed at the end total because I had thought that COD Black Ops 1&2 Xbox 360 combo would be higher, but I had accepted it. As a USN Vet and an avid gamer, I am always on the lookout for game shops like these, and I am eager to return as they seem to always have...
Read moreI've been to Tapper's twice, once last week and once around Christmas about six months ago. There's a little bit of everything retro to be found and I really appreciate being able to browse in a local store like Tapper's instead of only getting pictures and a description via eBay. Plus,no shipping. I read a review here that said that the owner is rude and disrespectful, but I don't buy that. Both times that I've been there he was friendly and we had good conversations about games and gaming. It makes zero sense for him to alienate his paying customers. Plus, anyone who's talked with him knows that rudeness isn't in his nature. His prices are fair, in my opinion, especially taking into account his costs with owning and operating a physical store. Anyway, don't let the review of one salty dude persuade you into not going there. Check it out for yourself and you'll come away with a positive experience, I assure you. Update 8/12/2023 - Visited today and the store is really well organized. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling when you're checking out, because there are a ton of cool steel cases up there that are for sale. Many of them are in pairs for displaying the front and back when the steel cases have a larger wrap...
