Around mid-to-late April (2024) I decided to get the screen for my ZTE Z982 Blade Z MAX Android repaired here; it also had a bent frame at the bottom. They initially charged me $40 for them to order a new screen and charged me $120 for the Maintenance Fee. I think they price gouged me, but whatever... I paid the $40 via Debit and the $120 Maintenance Fee in cash.
It took 2-3 days for the repair to finish. When I came to pick up my phone, Nimi (woman who worked on my phone) explained that she had to use glue and rubber-bands to keep the screen down because the frame was bent. Fair enough. I made a promise to return (in the near future) and have the bent frame replaced...
Let me also add that I do not live around the vicinity of their store; I live in a nearby zip code and have to use Uber to get there and back home. I made roughly 2-3 trips to have the glue reapplied on my phone before I finally contacted Corporate to see if they could assist me. They informed me this TECHY was a Franchise Store and 'they run things how they want' but worked out a way for the bent frame to be replaced after I informed them about what the rubber-bands had done to my phone after the fact. The deal was they would replace the bent frame FOR FREE, upon my next visit. I agreed to this.
When I brought the phone in, the screen was still anew and NOT damaged. Nimi repaired the bent frame while I shopped in Walmart and when I came to pick up the phone, she said she had to charge me $40 (plus tax) for the Maintenance because the 'undamaged' screen I brought in, was damaged. Not a scratch was on it. She wasn't gonna give me the phone back unless I paid her. $42 + $40 + $120 = $202 & change they've swindled me out of and rather than be fair and refund me, they'd rather take bad publicity and risk losing business. They (Nimi and another male worker) refuse to let me speak with the Store Manager when I request so and both have lied; now I have to get the BBB, FTC & OCC involved - banks and Federal people - you know, those people. Read moreI have a 2014 Kindle fire tablet & my battery died. I love this tablet & decided to replaced the battery by myself. After buying all the supplies to do this & watching videos on how to do the replacement. I decided it was too complicated. I called around & found techy would do it for me for $59.99 plus tax. The store is located in Walmart. When you enter the middle (home/improvement) entrance of Walmart, Techy is on the right hand side. I was greeted very warmly & was told it would possibly get done today or tomorrow. I got a call on Sunday (3 days) later that it was ready. When I picked it up on Monday, I was greeted warmly by Nimi. My tablet was under the cash register desk not charge (not sure how secure it was). Nimi charged it up a little so I could see if it worked. The top of the tablet was damaged because of the prying😔. Nimi patiently helped me with some questions I had with my photos. I asked if there was any guarantees and she said no since you brought your own battery. However you can call us if you have any problems. Suggestions for improvement: Was given a table full of finger prints. It should have been wiped down & placed in a bag (had to ask for a bag) The battery should have been fully charged to make sure it was working properly & holding the charge (after all the main repair was the battery).
