I recently stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Stone Mountain, GA, for 3 nights during a vacation to see Stone Mountain. The hotel’s location is excellent for visiting the park and is conveniently close to a movie theatre, Walmart, and various dining options.
However, the location has its drawbacks. Due to the divided highway, you can only turn right when leaving the hotel. Since most amenities and attractions are to the left, it requires making an unprotected turn and navigating back around, which can be quite inconvenient. If you’re not familiar with the area, it can be challenging to find everything at first, but once you get used to it, it’s not too bad.
The check-in process was frustrating; the staff were rude and unprofessional, causing delays. Once in the room, it was nice with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa, though the sofa was hard and stiff. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean overall, albeit a bit small.
For the price of $90 a night, the hotel exceeded my expectations in providing a clean and decent room, making it a good value despite its size and a few inconveniences. Unfortunately, there were several issues: the microwave didn’t work and wasn’t labeled in English, the phone was non-functional, and the ice and soda machine on my floor was broken, requiring trips to the 3rd floor. The bathroom was small and lacked toiletries.
Although the hotel did have working Wi-Fi, the password was not on the keycard, and when I asked the desk for assistance, they were unhelpful in getting me connected. However, there was a working Ethernet jack in the room that I was able to use to get my laptop online.
Despite the hotel's signage for quiet hours, there was a problem with noise on the first night. Loud guests and a neighbouring room with a loud TV disrupted my stay, and no action was taken to address this. Fortunately, the noise issues were less problematic on the following nights.
Breakfast was decent but offered limited options, and the inconsistent start and end times were unprofessional and inconvenient.
If you’re looking for a nice, affordable hotel right by Stone Mountain Park, I do recommend this hotel due to its proximity to the park. While there are some service issues and inconveniences, the location and value are noteworthy. I would...
Read more**DO NOT GO HERE! I made a reservation for Jan 26th, 2018. Tge woman on the phone was polite, made the reservation, took my CC info and told me I would receive a confirmation email shortly. When going to check in they could not find my reservation. The girls behind the desk were very polite and helpful but couldn't find it. I called reservations (the same number I called to make my reservation) and the woman on the phone basically said I was lying and I never made a reservation. She transferred me to customer care because at that point I was pissed because we just got done driving 5 hours to find out there were no rooms left. Customer service was great and credited me 30,000 points for a free night. The girls working the desk called holiday inn across the street and let them know what happened and got me a room at a small discount for that night.
It's now Feb 3rd, I used the points given to me to book a room tonight. Check in was quick and everything seemed fine. My wife, my kids (5 y/o and 11 months), and I go up to our room. Our room smelled strange and there were burn marks all over the carpet. The room was stuffy and the AC did not work. The parking lots bright LED lights were shining through the curtains that would not close. We figured we would just deal with it since it was only one night. We got in our beds and noticed the blankets and sheets were stained with brown spots, pink spots, and were covered in fuzz like they were washed with an ugly christmas sweater. Still we were going to suck it up and just stay the night because it was already midnight and we just got done driving 8 hours and were worn out. Then came the last straw, my wife goes to turn the lights off, the push button kind a lot of hotels use, and the button popped out from the wall. Now the lights wouldn't turn off. That was it. we packed up everything, checked out, and took our family across the street to the HOLIDAY INN. It is a MUCH nicer hotel. Screw the points, the free night, and anything Carlson. You will never receive a dime of my money again... you can count on that. I honestly have no idea how this hotel is considered a 3 star hotel or on the same note how it received so many stars on any reviews.

Read moreThis was a place to lay your head. We checked in about 11:30/midnight meeting up with my best friend and her family after a long drive for both of us. Hallways and elevator smelled like weed, room had a huge spiderweb in the corner, crumbs on the floor in the corners and along the baseboards. Floor was LVP with the cheap, plastic, flexi classroom baseboard. Beds were comfortable, towels were fluffy and clean. Breakfast was very lack luster. Hashbrowns were soggy and stuck together, general breakfast food was very prevalent but nothing spectacular or noteworthy.||However the big issue was about 4:15am when I found a baby cockroach in the bathroom. I managed to corner it and take a picture of it (attached) and then went to the front desk and showed her (she put it into the computer that it was a FLY). She apologized and said she would text the manager so we could have a discount upon checkout. She also said that they NEVER have this issue but they believe me. We checkout and the discount was 10%; my friend and I expressed our displeasure and were told we needed to reach out to the general manager. My friend and I called for about 2 weeks trying to reach the general manager (Mrs Patel, the owners wife) and no response to notes left from the front desk staff, voicemails or emails. I was finally able to reach the front desk manager and was given 50% off the room total and was told if we wanted an additional discount we needed to speak to the general manager and the front desk manager said she would leave yet another note for Mrs Patel to return my call.||Long story short 6 weeks after our stay I was able to get the name of the owner and found out his wife is the general manager. Spoke to him and he said I needed to speak to her. I received a phone call from her seconds after hanging up with her husband. She told me that she relived 50% off the room was sufficient compensation considering the circumstances (what circumstances she never elaborated on) but customer service all around seems to be lacking here. Suffice to say we will never be staying here again due to the lack of...
