Great place to buy comics and if you're looking for a gift for someone into comics or a related field, the employees are super nice and should be able to help out.
I've been going to this shop for several years now. I've been shopping with this business, or at least the previous incarnation, for over a decade when they were known as Phoenix Comics & Toys. When they first opened in Herndon everyone was super friendly and welcoming. When that store closed I was about half way between this store and the Lansdowne store but I often drove into Sterling so I went to Lansdowne store, at first.
That store wasn't as friendly. I stopped going there altogether after I was told, by someone I didn't really recognize, that I HAD to empty my box, even though I had recently gotten back from an extended trip and had told them I wouldn't be able to empty it for a while. I had been patronizing these guys for almost a decade at this point and this did not sit well with me.
I cleared out and transferred my box over to this store, the Fairfax location, and the people here have been nothing but cooperative, accepting, and above all friendly. I should really know the employees names by now since it has been several years but I'm kind of a failure when it comes to remembering names. It doesn't really matter though because everyone at this store is amazing. As long as I'm in the area, this will be...
Read moreVery poor customer service. I do not recommend giving this place your money! The location was a little hard to find, but whatever. The issues started when I entered and walked around the entire store twice without being acknowledged. The entire time, the staff is talking amongst themselves about people they know in the military. Being my first time in there, I found that to be a little odd/ rude to not acknowledge a customer at all. When I finally went to the front to inquire about a modern (less than a year) comic series, and the employee scoffed at me and said in a condescending tone "Did you check our (not well labeled) back stock?" I replied that this was my first time there, and I wasn't sure how they had things set up. He interrupted me to tell me, "This is how all comic shops work. You should have checked first. ". But no, sir, that's not how ALL comic shops work. I've been to plenty that don't have a proper back stock of modern books, only vintage. And even if that's how comic shops are set up, that is a terrible way to treat a first-time customer. The employee could have easily explained how the store was set up or guided me to where I could have found what I was looking for. I did not need the attitude and belittlement. I do not recommend this place. There are plenty of comic shops in the area that will treat you with respect and dignity. Don't waste...
Read moreThe Amazing Comic Shop lives up to its name! This is our main comic shop and we stop by weekly. We are always greeted and the atmosphere is very friendly and helpful. The folks that work there are happy to engage you in a chat or just let your browse. They aren't pushy like other shops which makes the experience much more comfortable and a joy to come back.
They have a great selection of both trades and collectibles, we've always been able to find what we need here. The store is modern and clean and very well organized. It's fun to browse every week and see what is new.
Whether the comic world is new or old for you this is a great...
