After passing by this place quite a few times, thinking it was only a butcher, I finally came to realize they have sandwiches too. However, fair warning, be prepared to take whatever you get to go - there is zero seating, not even a small table in a corner, if you want to eat in.
Decided to try the pastrami - it's their own smoked, thick-sliced, which was pretty good, but if I'm being honest, it was kind of a bit chewy and not near as good as I'd heard. The poblano mustard was a nice, unexpected touch, but quite disappointingly, it was NOT served on a toasted grinder roll, as advertised.
And since it was to go only, I didn't realize until I was later eating that it was plain old marbled bread of some sort - totally different taste and texture than a grinder roll - if they were out, or whatever the reason was, they should've said something before making it - I would have completely passed for that day if I knew it was going to be on bread.
So the service... the two guys working there seem to run the place (one was an owner, I think possibly). The other guy, who finally took my order after passing by me as he was doing other things (I was the only person in the small place) - I finally had to ask if I could order, and he kind of begrudgingly took my order. And it took forever... like close to 20 minutes! I love that they steam the pastrami right then and there, but not sure what took so very long with no one else even there.
The other guy was either the mgr or owner, and was at least a bit more friendly, but seemed completely bothered by my questions about the butcher cuts of meat while I was waiting.
Overall, the sandwich was pretty decent, but not to the level of the many raving reviews here. It was good, even on bread, but the service kind of left a lesser taste in my mouth. Will choose from many other options in the future...
Read moreI’m sorry- I love meat and places that have it for sale but…. The prices here even for choice cuts are too high. I have purchased better steaks- choice cuts, from Sprouts for nearly half the price. I really want to support this place but they make it very difficult with the prices they use. Even something silly like the fruit preserves they are selling for 7 bucks the exact same jar can be purchased from WinCo for 4 bucks. I have not ventured into the more high end cuts like Waygu as I’m usually buying for 4 people. I would love this place to work out but at these prices I don’t see how. People are nice and the place is clean…
To answer your response- I believe you source your meats carefully, and from quality sellers. The two occasions where I spent about a hundred bucks on three choice steaks no one at the table was all that impressed with the meat. I have cooked them both Seared in a pan finished with butter and rosemary and reverse seared on a charcoal grill. I think maybe I like a thicker steak than the standard cut I got from you. I did purchase a single prime cut and found it to be very good - and for approx 37 bucks a pound it should have been. The ancillary products you sell are quite expensive to the point that I can’t imagine purchasing them. I’m sure the lease in that area is a lot and that you’re not making buckets of money. Your pricing must be necessary for your business plan- I just wish it were within my means. I am changing my rating to three as I appreciate the response. Good luck...
Read moreWe've been a regular customer at The Meat Company and have always appreciated the quality of their filet mignons and filet patties. We make an effort to support small businesses in our neighborhood. However, during my visit today, on December 15th at approximately 3:30 pm, I experienced a lack of customer service.
During my visit, there were four staff members behind the counter and three customers in the store, including myself. Two staff members were assisting a mother and daughter, but I did not receive any acknowledgment from the staff—no greeting or indication that someone would assist me shortly. The other two staff members, who were not actively helping customers, also did not acknowledge me. After standing at the counter for a while without any acknowledgment, I decided to leave.
I am reasonable and did not expect immediate service, but I also did not expect to be ignored completely the entire time I stood there, feeling invisible.
While the quality of their products is excellent, customer service is equally important to me, this experience left me not...
