Shady with Deceptive Business Practices.

I was torn on whether to leave this review, but I feel it's important that others know the deceptive business practices of this establishment. I will say that for simple issues, I am sure they are fine, but buyer beware if you need anything technical. Don't try to save a buck and go to an authorized repair center.

In January of 2021, I decided to upgrade my laptop battery and SSD (MBP 2017). I research some options and decided to save a few bucks and go with Trend both for price and convenience. The owner said he could take care of it and indicated that there was a known risk of motherboard damage with the upgrade. I read this and understood.

The problem arose when I noticed a difference in processor speed i7 2.2 GHz after the repair. I thought I was crazy. I spent hours looking into this and finally found the original invoice which reflected different processor with different SN that what was listed on "system information."

I called Trend Technology solutions, spoke with owner who admitted that the motherboard was damaged during repair and that he elected to replace with another motherboard (not checking processor speed) and did not tell me. He apologized and offered to send in the motherboard for repair. If that doesn’t work he would replace with a new motherboard.

I explained that I was a reasonable person and would have appreciated honesty and a discussion on how to proceed. He sent off the motherboard for repair, and I finally got it back a week later.

Needless to say, my MBP has not been the same since. There are occasional issues with my external monitor, which can be addressed by restarting or disconnecting. More seriously, the computer has started to crash frequently. I am certain that this is due to the issues requiring repair.

In retrospect, I will never take my computers to an unauthorized repair shop as it's not worth the headache and the potential for damage without recourse.

I recommend anyone taking a more than minor problem to a reputable repair shop authorized by the manufacturer. Ultimately, Trend lost my trust and I will...

Don't go here for major repairs.

Store is dirty and cluttered, there is a highschool kid working on some of the electronics, he's still learning, which is fine for him but I personally want professionals working on my electronics.

I came because my screen kept blacking out. He charged me 40 dollars to open the computer, fiddle around for 10 minutes and not fix the problem at all. When the problem arose immediately after the repair. He said it could happen on any laptop.

Got a second opinion at UbreakIfix. They actually diagnosed the problem, used technical vocabulary this store did not, and critiqued some of this stores techniques as far as diagnosing the problem. This store just tightened some screws and the guy and Ubreak said "when I'm working on electronics I'm thinking wires and ribbons not screws."

He is probably decent at replacing iphone screens though, but for anything you know you should go to UbreakIfix for, go to Ubreakifix, don't be cheap and burn money. Because good repairers don't like it when you let someone of worse skill work on your stuff makes it...

I’ve been going to Trend Technology for at least ten years, and it’s way past time to post some well-deserved compliments for the work done by Sukru and his assistant, Minh. Over the years, I’ve gotten at least six computers for my friends and for my church. I’ve also purchased miscellaneous disk drives and components for my personal systems, and have had Trend Tech recover data I had nearly given up for lost. I’ve made my living as a programmer, so I feel confident in saying these guys know what they’re doing.

Based on my experience, if you want quality used equipment and new or used parts for very reasonable prices, this is the best place in town to go. If you’re getting a computer, they’ll transfer your files for little or nothing, and lots of useful software will often get included.
