While I truly think Cole is a very nice young stylist & is doing his best. I feel that OMAET Salons owners push their staff to sell products to the clients that are completely unnecessary & instead of you being charged what you originally quoted you can end up with a bill that’s easily double your original stated price as was my experience, especially the very first time I went in for a root touch up & style with a $130 as my quoted price only yo reach the register and be hit with a bill well over $200. I was told on both visits how unhealthy my hair was yet when another stylist who has 25 plus years of experience looked at my hair she told me my hair was very thick & healthy especially for someone who has color treated hair. I feel like I was sold services that were unnecessary to jack up the price & I also think the sliding scale they use to rank their stylists by experience is a bunch of malarkey. My husband saw the manager of the salon who is supposed to be the highest level stylist & not only did she charge him $60 for a cut & bread trim, she also was not a master barber by any means & he was in her chair less than 30 minutes tops & paid extra just to have his hair washed after his cut which is ridiculous, I’ve never been to a salon ran the way this one is. Again I truly think my stylist Cole is an amazing young stylist I definitely feel that management pressures these stylists to upsell & to promote unnecessary services to pad the bill. I’ve found a new stylist in a different salon who as I said has more experience herself than the entire staff that’s “learning” & being promoted as they learn on the job which should be better explained prior to any customers appointment at OMAET the Salon. They charge you for every little thing & the appointments definitely feel rushed to get as many people in to make more profits for the owners. Just a guess here but I dare say each stylist gets a cut off each upsell & each product they push the customers to purchase. Just beware & if you know your hair, trust your gut. I pushed my doubts aside because I wanted & needed a good place to go but this Salon was a bad fit in the long run, especially when you go in for a blowout & style & you don’t even get a curling tool besides a brush & blowdryer used to create your look, which fyi I had no curls in my hair after paying $60 just for that visit. I’ve learned the hard way & hope others are vigilant in making sure they don’t get price gouged for services they don’t need or rushed thru their appointments just to keep the money growing for the owners. Definitely think Cole deserves a better working environment & no pressure to tell his clients they need treatments that they completely do not. People usually say you get what you pay for, in this case you pay for way more than you truly need or are charged at other salons that have been around longer than this “ training” salon. I tried to relate to 2 stars because I think Cole is a good stylist just in a bad situation with this owner/manager team. Do your research ladies &...
Read moreUPDATE: after 4-5 attempts of calling to get to a resolution for a MONTH, the salon blocked my number.
I am upset that I have to write this review. I really did not want to do this and instead wanted to write a positive review if the situation was handled in the correct manner.
I’ve been going to this salon for a couple of years now and had only super welcoming and positive experiences. Until I had an issue with the quality of work done!
To start off, in total I paid this salon over $700 to lighten my hair. The first two sessions were $200+ and the third was $350+.
Unfortunately, the first two sessions barely lightened my hair. You may ask yourself, “why would you go back if it didn’t do much?” I now ask myself the same thing. I went back because I thought that there would be a noticeable difference each time, as I was told by the salon.
The third time was my breaking point. I had my hair lightened to a level 10 and asked if I could have teasy highlights to make it look natural/blended with my natural highlights. It did not come out well at all. Yes, it was platinum but it was unblended, unevenly lifted with a few chunky highlights and banding near my scalp.
So, I walked in and asked for it to be fixed. And the two hairstylists who did my hair did a wonderful job with the teasy lights. However….the toner they used on my hair was way too dark (level 7-8) and I had shown reference pictures with the look I was going for so I’m not sure what happened (I still wanted to be a level 10 blonde but not white blonde).
I called the salon and explained what happened. I was pretty upset and felt too awkward to say anything at the time when they showed me the final look because it was after hours and they gave me a gift card.
The owners didn’t seem happy that I let them know that I wasn’t fully happy with the fix (it wasn’t what I wanted). I tried to explain that I went through the whole process of bleaching my hair to be a level 10 blonde and now it looked like I did nothing to my hair. They then told me I would have to wait a while for the toner to wash out and I would need to bleach and highlight my hair again to get it back to what it looked like originally.
$350+ to wait until the toner fades to a dull blonde color and then dump more money down the drain to have it the way I wanted it.
One of the owners, passively told me that if I keep coming back into the salon after a service and having an issue with it…that this was not the salon for me. I was shocked. This was my first time that I brought an issue to their attention.
I had been nothing but very gentle, patient and understanding the whole time and even said the hairstylists did a great job but that the color wasn’t right. But it wasn’t enough.
I asked for a refund at the end of all of this so I could get it fixed somewhere else. I have yet to hear a response after several attempts of calling the salon with the message being passed on but ending up nowhere.
Overall, I’m very disappointed and will not be...
Read moreI'm not even sure where to start with my review so this may be a long one. I'll start off by saying I am very particular about where I go to get my hair cut and by whom. Before booking here, I was alternating with a barbershop in Nashville and flying to Charleston to see a precious stylist.
Before booking my first appointment, I called the salon after someone referred me to Julie (the owner). The receptionist answered, and I immediately asked to speak to whom I was interested in booking an appointment with. They gladly obliged. I went over my desires and concerns and she set my mind at ease.
I can't stand salon gossip and petty talk about others openly - Which is a common problem with other places I've tried in Cookeville. Julie assured my that was against policy here and could guarantee this wouldn't be an issue. She was 100% accurate. I've never experienced this and I've been going for some time now.
I'm always greeted with smiling faces from everyone. From the moment you walk in the salon, you're offered various beverages. I often keep the mimosas flowing. Julie and I have the best time. She doesn't rush my cuts and ALWAYS makes sure I have enough product on hand, as well as helping to keep my travel kit stocked.
My appointment is always on time. I've never once had to wait for Julie to be ready. She's very respectful of my time.
When I was late one day because of a prior work commitment, and didn't have time to eat beforehand, Julie asked another associate to go grab my lunch up the street for me. In no way was that a part of their job description, but they obliged.
When you become a regular guest, you might as well become a family member. I truly feel like I'm taken care of a made a priorty.
Much love to the...
