I've been a member for 6 years. I would cancel my membership if there were anything comperable in the area for the price I am grandfathered into. Also, I enjoy the group fitness classes, those instructors, and have some friends among the members. That's the good. However...
This location recently changed from an LA Fitness to Esporta, and from my understanding, Esporta is considered the lower end locations for Fitness Intl. Thankfully, my membership still gives me access to the other LAF locations in the area.
Staff is a revolving door. Most of them start out helpful and nice, but there is no point in learning any of their names, none of them last more than 6 months. The employee I've known the longest was just recently fired for a frivolous reason, most likely so they can hire someone cheaper, she had worked there for over 10 years! But she's the only employee who was still there since when I had joined. Don't think that working here will lead to long term employment.
Equipment goes missing and is never replaced. The 30 lb preloaded bar disappeared over the summer. I keep being told new ones were ordered, but they have never appeared after months of requests. There are not nearly enough 7.5 lb weights. There are literally 3 10 lb dumbbells in the place. Yes, I've counted. Generally, women use these smaller weights, so we all have to ask each other to pass them on when they are done with them.
The floors in the Workout area and locker rooms are grungy. There are places where the floor is warped for years and it's never been fixed.
The showers are horrible, with no real shower heads. The water practically comes out of a pipe in the wall. Water sprays everywhere. I don't bother using them.
There is just a dinginess to the whole place. You can see that the janitors are cleaning regularly, but I wouldn't walk around barefoot.
If you are considering joining, don't be fooled by the low price on the sign. That is for ONLY this location, you can't go to the other nearby LAFs with that basic membership. And you will want to.
I've added some photos. Cropped to avoid...
Read moreAs a member for years I thought they will be more kind with me but I experiment the worse last Saturday when I went with my daughter to the gym for a quick work out since was my son birthday the same day. I got a 14 days pass for my daughter and when I got there some one called “Max” sales person there was all over me and my daughter trying to sell me everything like a hangry sale man, I expect that at the automobile dealership, not at my gym. I told him that I was in a hurry that I had not to much time that particular day and that I want to go do my work out and he told me Not that we need to finish that. Father few minutes I decided to go home since I was not able to do my workout and he was not finishing with his speech.
I went home the same days and print the cancellation form and I left it at the gym, they call me Yesterday to see when I was able to stop by and subscribe my daughter 😂😂😂😂, sonó asked them for the cancellation for that I left on this passed Saturday and whoever was on the phone told me That they don’t have anything there. I think now I have to deal with the cancellation of my membership for few months since they are a pain in the neck and very very very unprofessional in every single aspect.
If you want a gym nice clean with good machines and the more imperative thing, honest!!! Do not go to LA FITNESS!!!!! Very smelly place especially by the dumbbells,...
Read moreEquipment: One of the few gyms with round plates! Some are a little beat up & old, but overall they are good enough to work with. Machines are up to par, again not super new, but they get the job done. Barbells are average, some old, but none bent.
Facility: No strange smells most of the time! Bathrooms could be better, but it's a gym! Spa facilities are pretty good. Swimming pool is on the smaller side. This is one of the few LA gyms in the area with a steam room! Sauna is available as well. Both of these are shared men/women.
Staff: Nothing to report here- 😎
Crowd: Evenings get quite busy here, so you may want to avoid of you're in a rush. The facility is on the smaller side, so you work out a little close to the next patron.
Not too many grunters or screamers here, but there are quite a few heavy deadlifters (bang!). There seem to be a lot of twenty somethings at this gym, but most are well mannered. A little loud at times, but tolerable.
A good gym overall, much better than some of the others in the area!
---update----
This gym has way too many members. Costant waits for equipment is ridiculous! Not everyone can get to the gym before 6AM or...
