Nice park for the kids to play on the playground but if you want to take them to the beach... Beware!!! There are staff members who sit in the shade in orange shirts and watch every move that visitors make!! Step into the water on the beach and they will come over to you and tell you to get out. Now, there are signs that say no wading and no entrance to the water which does not permit children to play near the water’s edge. So, what’s the point in having this beautiful sandy beach!? My confusion here with Mecklenburg County is if you can’t enter the water from this beautiful beach and Mecklenburg County is paying staff members to constantly tell people to stay out of the water, why don’t they just put a fence across the beach near the water!? Thankfully, our family was not involved in getting chastised for entering the water; however, it was so disheartening to watch as the staff members went after every child that would be playing with their sand toys at the water’s edge. My wife and kids decided being at that beach was too stressful trying to stay away from the water in 90 degree weather, so we left and played in the water hose at home. As we were leaving it appeared that most of the beach goers had the same idea. It just wasn’t...
Read moreI love this park. It has plenty of picnic tables to have lunch, play games, rest, read a book and enjoy a nice day. All the spots have grills and trashcan. The nice canopy of the trees gives enough cover to the whole perimeter to walk without getting sun burn and having fresh cooler air. This is ideal for summer time, when is hot and the sun is intense. Two full laps around the big walking path and you will have about 1.1 miles 5000 steps. If you walk around the smaller paths, then you will get a few more steps. There are clean bathrooms in two areas. One is closer to the lake next to the event cabin; the other one is next to the kids playground. The park has tennis courts and a small lake beach with chairs. There is fresh water fountains to refill your bottle in all the bathroom areas. The lake views are beautiful, some areas have chairs and swinging chairs to enjoy the view. Away from the lake some parts of the path are quite and relaxing. The area close to the lake is louder and busier. There is plenty of parking spaces, both closer to the bathrooms and water fountains. Many visitors practice fishing on the area close to the lake. I highly...
Read moreWe got married at Jetton Park - Waterfront Hall and I just want to say the people who work here are AMAZING! Specifically Park Ranger Bart Newton - he is absolutely one of the sweetest and easiest to work with people I have ever met. Weddings can be so stressful but having Bart on our team was great - he helped us by showing me where I could line up and then showing us inside the hall numerous times throughout the planning process so we could make sure our day was just right. On the day he was there to help whenever we needed something and he went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a small event space this place is amazing and so naturally beautiful. I felt like a fairy getting married in the woods - it was amazing. Even when it thunder stormed and we ended up married inside instead of outside on the grassy beach it was still perfectly okay because it was so beautiful! I cannot say enough how great the people who work here are or how beautiful this park and venue are! Truly...
