To the discerning enthusiast of Magic: The Gathering and its many strategic intricacies, allow me to commend to you a most singular establishment. Nestled within this seemingly unremarkable corner of town lies a haven of intellectual rigor and camaraderie—a game store that transcends mere commerce to become a veritable temple of the arcane arts.
The proprietors, whose attention to detail rivals that of a master watchmaker, have curated an environment that is both welcoming and enigmatic. The walls, lined with meticulously organized packs and rare collectibles, speak to their profound knowledge of the game and their dedication to its practitioners.
The weekly gatherings—most notably the illustrious Friday Night Magic—evoke the atmosphere of a Victorian salon, albeit one where mana flows freely and minds clash in elegant duels. The players here are as diverse as the colors of Magic itself, each contributing their unique strategies and stories. Newcomers are met not with disdain but with encouragement, and the competitive spirit is tempered with an unspoken code of respect.
It is rare to encounter a venue that so deftly balances the cerebral and the convivial. This store, much like a perfectly tuned deck, is a triumph of harmony and purpose. I dare say that even one as particular as myself finds no fault with its execution.
Should you possess the wit and inclination to test your skills—or simply to bask in the ambiance of a truly exceptional establishment—I urge you to visit. But be forewarned: once ensnared by its charm, you may find it...
Read moreFirst off I enjoy this store when ONE employee is not there. I was with a group of friends and decided to go there and check out their comic selection. I stood in the back by the new releases where the one employee(mortal enemy) was standing and having a conversation with a friend. I stood next to him for a good 10 minutes hoping he would notice I had a question and didn't want to rudely interrupt his trash talking of customers who know nothing about comics. I then had to squeeze by him to grab the comic I wanted cause I finally found it and had to get one that was behind all the others cause they were all bent. He then looked at me and rudely said" would you like to stop bending those comics?" First off I just got done spending 100 dollars in there and that's how he speaks to me? If you see a bald guy working just leave cause you will not be helped and you will be stared at constantly, except when you want to purchase things. My group and I no joke waited at the front register for 15 minutes waiting for this bald guy to process our transaction. He was obviously scanning things in for inventory which must be more important than customers. Honestly this store would be much better without this guy. The store owner is great but this bald guy needs to take a nice lesson in customer service. I will no longer be buying from this location. Go to the dugout in hickory. Great customer service, great customer loyalty, great staff and great selection. Stay away from this location unless you want to wait in line for 15 minutes. Very...
Read moreI am writing this review from a comic collector perspective. This location does have an extensive board/card gaming section and seems worth checking out.
Comic selection - location has a lot of comics to choose from. The problem is how the comics are merchandised with long boxes stacked three high you have to move boxes in and out. Basically be prepared to sit on the floor and browse because there is no table space. And make sure you work out as those boxes are heavy.
Comic pricing - store has no value/dollar bins and pricing on non key issues is high compared to the market. Asked the clerk at checkout if any discounts are offered and the answer is they use a book to price comics. Be prepared to spend more than other places on comics. What should be a $1 issue is $3 and a $3 issue is $5.
Comic trading - Asked clerk and was not available. Would be nice to be able to trade keys and non keys in the store.
Customer Service - non existent. Spent an hour digging through boxes and no help was offered. Three employees hung out at the front of the store on their phones and seemed irritated by questions.
What could be an awesome spot for comic collectors definitely has some opportunities and for new collectors may seem off putting based on how they merchandise and operate.
Take care and...
