Wife and I were staying in Duck and wanted to play mini golf in the evening. We decided to go up to Corolla because it was a little closer than the courses I knew were good in Kitty Hawk. Big Mistake. Just make the drive to the cool courses with pirate ships and dinosaurs down south.
The only plus of Adventure Golf is that you can play 27 holes. There are 3 separate 9 hole courses.
Negatives: Cost $15/person to play. Crazy to think a family is going to spend over $60 to play (boring) mini-golf. All the holes are very boring. Most of them are basically a straight putt with curvy walls. There are a few you have to put around a corner and a few that have multiple levels, but not one hole was remotely "fun". The ground doesn't roll true at all so even a short, flat putt might not go in. The edge of the hole is rounded and slightly crowned, so the ball doesn't naturally roll into the hole when close. This means everyone takes one or two more shots, meaning it will take families way longer to play each hole. Each hole has a flagstick for some reason and the flag is so thick, it can prevent the ball from going in the hole. No flat surfaces to either write the score or put something down when putting. This is a huge pet peeve of mine with most mini-golf courses. I bought a bottle of water and I was keeping score, so every single shot, I had to stash the pencil and scorecard in my hat/pocket and put my water on the ground or on a random rock so I could hit my shot. Then put everything down to write the score. At least put a little stand at the beginning of each hole! I think this is one of the only mini-golf courses on the north part of OBX so it got packed quickly on a Friday night. We only played two of the courses because the last one filled up with huge family groups. There is a sign saying groups should be a max of 6, but we saw many larger groups out on the course. I bet it would have taken an hour to play the...
Read moreWe wanted to go play mini golf on our last night before we left this fun little course. You get 27 holes to play and there are a couple of challenging ones that make it fun. When you get to hit it over a bridge and a couple of others which has a ramp over the water. But you don’t need to worry if your ball goes in the water it will float down the tunnel through a grate and deposited on another part of the hole.
A nice way to end our vacation and then we went for ice cream after. it’s very popular and gets quite busy we went around 5 PM when people were eating dinner and it wasn’t too bad but filled up afterward. but definitely come...
Read moreGreat putput course.
We stumbled on this place while on a road trip to the outer banks. Who knew that minor was where it's at?
It turned into a fun morning with the family.
They have the 9-hole greens with varying difficulties. The obstacles and pros vary nicely, making the scenery interesting and letting young and old alone engaged.
The bumper cars are enjoyable and we a hit with my entire family.
They have an interesting drive and steering mechanism similar to tracked vehicles and some subscription equipment where the motors on each side are controlled independently. It's pretty intuitive once you...
