First of all, shout out to the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast, who put on a magnificent performance!! The singing, acting, sets, costumes and physical humor were Incredible and there were a lot of little touches that were unique to this particular production.
Parking was easy and tickets were affordable....so why not 5 stars??
They DOUBLE sell tickets. I had two tickets but only used one, and was actually happy to have an extra seat for my stuff and because I am claustrophobic. So imagine my surprise when someone came up to me AFTER the performance had started, asking me to move MY stuff out of MY seat. The staff member was arguing with me, and had the person they had sold my seat to right behind them, so it was super awkward, considering myself and the people around me were trying to enjoy the show. Now, if they had politely asked me if I wanted to resell my ticket before the show, I probably would have said yes, but basically I was bullied into giving up the seat I paid for. (They did say they would refund the ticket only after I asked).
This happened to someone else before the show started, so I know this is just how they operate, and they call it a "mix-up" but the person that I was bullied into giving my seat to straight up told me that they resell tickets if people don't show up. Unfortunately for them, I did show up, and they didn't factor that in.
So, here are my tips: If you have an extra seat, you can offer to sell it back to the theater and if you don't want it resold without your consent, make sure every ticket you bought is scanned upon entering the theater. For the theater - maybe put a notice somewhere (like on your Website, ticket email, box office, etc.) letting people know that you are willing to buy back unused tickets. (Are you refunding the original purchaser when you resell their tickets?)
As far as I know, selling something that doesn't belong to you is at worst THEFT and at best sneaky/shady business practice. Not a good look, especially for a FAITH- based college. Definitely will make me think twice about going back.
So....lost one star for selling my ticket that I paid for, and another star for interrupting the show that I...
Read moreVERY fortunate to have seen and EXPERIENCED Death of a Salesman yesterday at the Lyceum Theater. I'd taught Miller's play for years, but seeing the production with age-appropriate, very seasoned actors in this small, intimate theater--well, just beyond all expectations. I could not remain detached--the energy and the angst of the characters so, so engaging. Bravo for an outstanding, moving ...
Read moreMy daughter made her decision to pursue Musical Theatre after watching a show in this Theatre. The theatre may be small in size but definitely not lacking in talent. I’ve never watched a show I didn’t like. If you love the 50s and 60s music, I highly recommend to watch the “ Marvelous Wonderettes.” Last show I watched was “Mama Mia.” It was packed. So get your tickets as soon...
