Martin Jewelers — Attraction in Cranford

Don't go here.

They're sales people are pushy, they will be difficult, and up-sale you. Much to my dismay, I recently purchased a ring from this location and during the process I was uncomfortable and felt lied to afterwards. I was repeatedly told "what I wanted" and felt neither respected nor listened to with regards to what I wanted. I went to another jewler who treated me with respect and didn't push me to purchase something I didn't want. I bought my preferred ring from them with zero push back. Afterwards, Martin Jewlers refused to refund my purchase. Their reasoning was because it was a sized ring and "special order". The special order was from Quality Gold which is an industry standard seller and I paid for quick shipment. I will be attempting to reach their corporate offices and pursue a refund.

If possible I would've listed 0 stars. I could not be more displeased with my experience at this store. I would recommend almost any other jeweler before this location. I will not be returning for a single thing short of a full refund.

Truly a bad experience that left a sour taste in my mouth and disdain in my heart.

Re business owner:

I stand by my experience. I vocalized multiple times that I preferred a silver ring and your employee reluctantly took out the book to see if one was available. I had to say multiple times I wanted silver. With little regard to my preference, she checked on one. Said it couldn't arrive in time and proceeded to tell me "you want white gold" a ring that was dramatically more expensive. She was more than happy to show off and suggest multiple expensive gold options. I suspect so that she could acquire a larger commission. Not once did she suggest another silver option.

Ultimately, I did not appreciate her or your business. You refuse a refund, well size it to an 11 or keep it as an option for another customer. I was treated poorly and truly regret even walking into your business. For you the ring costs very little - to me it was expensive and tarnished the beginning of my nuptials.

I still would like a refund or partial from your store. Or buy it back, it matters not to me how you rectify the situation but only that you do.

P.s. not a single person mentioned that the sizing would prevent the ring from being returned with a refund. Again I say, I feel mislead and pushed into buying something because they knew we were in a rush and wanted us to spend...

If you are in the market for a luxury watch or jewelry, I would highly recommend this business. It still has that family feeling and the service is top notch. Jeff spent a lot of time with me to ensure I was happy with how the watch was fitting. He even had my Rolex that I didn't purchase there re-sized free of charge. Jeff was very knowledgeable about his product and extremely professional. The store is immaculate and beautiful. It's also very nice they have a Rolex certified watch maker on site to take care of their customers service needs. Even though I live in NY, I will definitely be a returning customer when I am ready for my next watch.

Edit** I just purchased another watch from Martin Jewelers and received the same top-notch customer service as my first purchase. Scott is very professional and a watch enthusiast. He is very knowledgable about the products he sells. Every time i visit this jeweler, it is immaculately clean and all of the showcases are well organized. You can tell the owner and the entire staff takes pride in this business and all of the fine products they sell.

I have now purchased 2 more watches from Martin Jewelers and they continue to provide the same unparalleled level of customer service. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Ellen during my last visit. She is a truly dedicated professional. Her story of working her way up to business owner is inspiring. Jeff and Scott are both passionate about watches, have great knowledge about their product and will help you in a friendly and relaxed manner. I was also assisted by Sho during my last visit, who expertly sized my watch bracelet. She was also kind enough to show me the process of sizing the watch bracelet and answered all of my questions about the process.

I needed to have my 22 year old Rolex watch serviced. I chose Martin Jewelers because they are very knowledgeable and extremely customer service oriented. A special bonus is that the are local- no sending your watch away. I could not be more pleased. The watch was serviced in a timely manner ; actually they surpassed their original time line. The watch is perfect- running well, clean and fitted with a clasp that works. It is a pleasure to work with a local business that operates on a professional level. Thank you so very much!

Since my original review, I have brought two sentimental pieces of jewelry to Martin Jewelers for repair. Both pieces held special meaning to me- far more than their monetary value. I was treated so well- as if I was the most important customer. Both pieces were repaired in a timely and complete manner. The thing I value most is the direct communication - I was given a clear understanding of what repair would be completed as well as complete cost breakdown. It was certainly worth visiting this company. Customer care and customer service are simply their way of doing business. It is much appreciated. Once again I turned to Martin Jewelers for repairs of some sentimental pieces. And once again, they out did themselves in both customer service and technical repair. It is a true privilege to deal with a local business that performs at such a high level. Update: 03/15/2023: Once again this classy local jeweler helped me out. They handled my jewelry repair with care and professionalism. Would not let me leave until the watch band was properly adjusted. Thanks so much for your time and effort!
