The Cranford Theater — Attraction in Cranford

Cranford Theater is hands down the best place to see a movie. It’s clean, comfortable, and in the perfect downtown location. They play the big blockbusters, but what really makes them special is the variety—classic films, indie movies, and special screenings you won’t find at the big chains. They’re always doing something cool, whether it’s a premiere, a community event, or hosting an international film festival.

It has that small, NYC-style theater feel, but without the hassle. You can walk around, grab something to eat before or after, and it always feels safe, no matter the time of day. Plus, it’s a family-run business, and you can tell they actually care about the experience. The staff is friendly, the seating is great, and the prices are reasonable—especially on Tuesdays when they have discounts.

As for parking—I’ve been coming here for years and never had an issue. If you’re debating between this and an AMC or Cinemark, where cleanliness and customer service can be hit or miss, do yourself a favor and support a local gem that actually cares about its patrons and the movie-going experience. Very very clean which is so refreshing to see. Staff is friendly which is also very very nice. My only concern was we were there to see CODA. The close captions were not fully working which was critical for this film. Without the captions the audience had no idea what the sign language was.

During the movie my companion went up to someone to ask about them, since he had already seen it on Apple TV and then all was working after that.

I don't know if every show prior to ours had them in working order or not, but with this film, the captions are NECESSARY to follow the characters' dialogue. Someone should have monitored this.

It won Academy awards because you could follow the story and lead actor! I truly hope the customers get to enjoy this heartwarming film.It is so deserving of every award it earned from Sundance and the Academy. Went there for 80th anniversary of The Wizard of OZ on Jan 27 2019, kind of disappointed at the high prices of admission $13.33 for all ages, and the concession stand. $5.19 for a standard bottle of water? But besides that, the movie has been remastered, and played in IMAX and 3D over the years but not at the cranford theater. Very low quality, and no surround sound at all. I'm looking at rows of speakers along the walls, but the only one you can hear is behind the screen. The when the movie ends, nobody turns on the lights, so all those 3-5 year old are tripping and parents with their cell phone flash lights guided us all out even after the very short credits finished rolling. 3 stars only because my 4 year old and I love that movie so much. I hate giving bad reviews but I like bad business models even...
