We hadn't been here to our local theater for several years due to the prices of tickets and snacks. Plus we're the type who doesn't tolerate cell phones and snack bag noises. Especially when it costs so much to watch the movie. We recently received free movie passes so we decided to give it another try. We opted not to spend $25 for a bag of popcorn and a couple of bottled waters. There were some people ahead of us that were dropping $40-50 for a group of 4! Instead I bought a $4 bottle of water. I went to the bathroom before the movie and the smell was atrocious. The bathrooms here have always stank, but this was worse. We went to our theater and as soon as we walked in I could smell a stale odor. A quarter of the way into the movie I started to get nauseous plus my asthma started to flair up. I believe something in the air was causing this. One thing we noticed is the movie screen seemed less than stellar in quality. It seemed to have a rippling effect in the middle of the screen that was very distracting. I went to the bathroom again and unfortunately I found the odor problem (at least the worst of it). The women's sanitary napkin bins were completely full! I checked several of the stalls and found the same thing in those too. They had been that way for several days. We will never go back. Like I mentioned earlier, this theater was overpriced before, but now with the change of ownership it's not just overpriced, it's a health violation too. Our suggestion? Drive the hour to Carmel and visit Brewflix. Cheap tickets, great meals and have a beer too...
Read moreUsually travel out of town and have not been to this Crawfordsville Theater in 12 years. Can honestly say, nothing has changed. The world has changed and Crawfordsville has grown, but the theater is the same.
When you first walk in, your met with the smell of an old building that has been abandoned, but somehow people are still around. We bought 2 tickets for twisters. Tickets are the same price as they are at any other theater. Menu was pretty slim and overpriced, but we were able to get a drink and small popcorn for $5. We followed the hall down to our theater.
Upon sitting down, you can INSTANTLY tell, 2 hours from now you’ll be struggling to stand and have back pain. If there is ANYTHING they want to upgrade here, the seats are the first they should look into. Heavily outdated and extremely uncomfortable. The popcorn was dry, but honestly, it matches the air around.
The movie itself was perfect. Video was clear and the audio was crisp. Overall the only good thing to come from this visit was the movie. Happy to see the theater is still around, but it’s worth the time to travel to IMAX in Lafayette or Home...
Read moreOld, dirty, and overpriced. I don't mind old theaters that much as long as they acknowledge to themselves and more importantly their customers what they are. They can be a great way to go see a movie on a budget. But based on the prices this place thinks its brand new and state of the art rather than run down and probably on the city's watch list for potential condemnation in the near future. At the very least it needs a major renovation. Maybe even that can't save it. The smell that other reviewers mention is real. They rarely have fresh popcorn, so what you get has been sitting out hours? days? weeks? At their best, staff are apathetic. Then again its probably not fair to expect a high school student making minimum wage to care when management clearly doesn't. You're better off driving to West Lafayette, Lebanon, or the western suburbs of Indy. You won't save much money (unless you go one of the Goodrich theaters in those cities on a Tuesday which won't require a paid membership to get their discount tickets) but at least you'll have an experience that's much more in line...
