Wow, what a huge disappointment. DO NOT send a watch here to be repaired or cleaned.
I sent in my Poljot Traveller Chronograph to their Clayton location to have the crystal replaced and the movement cleaned. The watch came back with a brand new crystal, but also a brand new set of problems. Stopwatch chrono didn't work and a bezel that had worked perfectly before barely turned.
I called to tell them what was wrong and they said to send it back to have it fixed. Two weeks later the watch was returned, the problems were fixed, BUT a new set of problems existed. Sent the watch back yet again.
I received no word from Timekeepers as to the watch's status for three weeks and had to call. They rudely told me that a feature that was damaged during the last repair never existed on the watch in the first place!
From the time the watch was given to me as a gift I was able to set the date by toggling the minute hand back and forth between midnight and 11 pm to fast-forward through dates. Semyon, the watchsmith, was the person who showed me this particular feature on the very same watch. Now, I have to find a competent watchsmith that works on Poljots to see if this special timepiece can be restored.
I doubt there's a way to get the $140 cleaning/repair fee back when they won't even admit they don't know how to properly fix the watch. Or were the movements switched? I'll probably never know.
Bottom line - DO NOT send your watch to these...
Read moreI was disappointed with my visit, at this particular location. I found and purchased a father's day gift and was about to leave when I noticed a piece of artwork, that I considered offensive. I asked the owners if they knew the history of the framed item; they were very happy to share with me that it was from the early 1900s, and the facial features of the BLACK FACE actually moved! Yes-black face. There were younger workers, maybe grandchildren present and as I listened to the owners tell me their version of American history. The grandchildren, speaking their language, quickly asked to speak with the female owner in the back. The woman came back and insisted that she was not prejudice and stated that her best friend was black and I should not focus on "negative". She insisted that history was a good thing. I allowed her to speak and then I said the following: Your artwork is history, but since you've chosen to display it, you should know the whole history and this is offensive. It also left her with 1 question that she never answered, which was: would you ever display anything with the confederate flag on it? It's a part of American history as well. Unfortunately, there are no returns allowed; needless to say I will never return to...
Read moreI just LOVED my first visit to Timekeepers in Creve Coeur. Half the time, the owners, husband and wife, reminded me of family members that I lost a long time ago. The other half of the time, I kept seeing what my life could be if I decided to live it according to my hobbies and interests. Semyon is simply...just... ME from a different continent and a different time. I came in this morning with a specific repair I wanted done on a watch I had brought with me. I left this afternoon, having bought 3 new watches, met a local fellow collector and was added to his mailing list, and having been invited to the Ilyashov's 40th anniversary/party. I'm going to be a regular customer from here on out. If they get tired of me hanging around, I'll offer to walk their big, calm, long-haired german shepherd dog. He just lays on his little trampoline-esque bed behind the counter, staring at each new customer as if they're the curiosity. The shop is floor to ceiling rarities. I felt like I was in heaven.
