My wife and I love Thai food, (we’ve both been to Thailand), and we wanted to check out this place because it was near home. The green curry was just ok but the phad thai was SUPER salty. I usually eat on the saltier side, so if it was too salty for me, it’s way too much salt.

Unfortunately, when we respectfully sent it back literally after trying to take ONE bite each and needing to spit it out, saying that we couldn’t eat it as it was inedible, the server took it back and then the owner came out and literally yelled at us and lectured us on how popular their phad Thai was and how they even cater for big companies and how we were the first to ever complain since they opened in the 90s… she didn’t even offer to remake it for us because she said it would be the same recipe…

I kindly let her know that we were enjoying the green curry and suggested maybe the phad Thai was just accidentally made too salty just this one time. She was livid and went back into the kitchen.

Let me just say… my wife and I were flabbergasted and horrified. We just wanted to enjoy a date night with good food. We didn’t even finish our food, we lost our appetites, and went to pay and then they tried to charge us for the phad Thai! After what had transpired, I respectfully said that we wouldn’t be paying for that dish and the cashier agreed to take it off.

Never again. What a strange and traumatic experience! Every time we pass the restaurant it still makes me shudder.

I know that people may have hard/bad days, but this was completely...

My husband and I went there for the first, and last, time for dinner. The food was good and the service was good until the bill came. When I looked over the bill, I noticed the prices were higher than what was in the menu. When I brought it to the attention of the hostess, she was explaining to me that the $9.95 price was the lunch portion, but we had the dinner portion so it costs more. I told her that was fine, but the more expensive price was not what the menu said. She asked what I wanted to do so I told her I wanted to pay the price that was in the menu. As she went to adjust the bill, another couple was leaving and the lady whispered to me that the same thing happened to them. They were given the lunch menu but were charged dinner prices. When the hostess returned with the adjusted bill, she was telling me that I had the lunch menu and my husband had the dinner menu. When I asked my husband what his prices were, he said he didn't know because he didn't pay attention. So the hostess left to run our credit card. When she brought back the receipt to sign, she had increased one of the prices of the plates back to the dinner price but did not tell us she was going to do that prior to running our card. She did not understand that, not only did she give me a lunch menu at 7 p.m., but she did not point out any price discrepancies or any difference in menus between my husband and myself. They did not honor the prices on their menu nor did they acknowledge their mistake. I will not go...

Met a friend here for dinner. There are multiple Thai food restaurants I like, but I've been on the search for a new favorite closer to my home. This restaurant is closer to my home.

Parking was easy. I was greeted as soon as I entered and they seated me at a table. There was one other customer in this entire restaurant and they wanted to seat me directly next to them... I asked if I could be seated a few tables over and they did accommodate that.

Drink orders were taken quickly. Friend arrived and they received a drink quickly. Before friend had even opened menu they asked for food order. We asked for a few minutes. They literally came back in about 2 minutes. We asked for a few more minutes. They came back in another 2 minutes. You get the point here... It was obvious friend was looking at the menu, why rush? This rushing was felt throughout the experience and we didn't enjoy it. When the check was delivered, they let us know we could pay at the register. We said okay and that we were talking for a few minutes and wrapping up. They came back over multiple times to tell us where to pay.

Food - I ordered the Pad See Ew, friend ordered Pad Thai, we also had the crab rangoons. Rangoons were super tasty. Pad see ew was lacking flavor. It had spice, but not flavor. I felt like it was only "okay". Friend liked hers.

Overall, there are other options I prefer more. I would not...

4½ to 4 Stars – A Decent Thai Spot With Room to Improve I recently tried Thai Nivas Cafe after hearing mixed reviews from friends, and overall, it was a decent experience — but not without its flaws. The flavors in most dishes were authentic and vibrant. The Pad Thai had a nice balance of sweet and tangy, and the Eggplant Curry had a rich, sweet texture with just the right level of savoury. The staff were polite and tried to be helpful, even though they seemed a bit overwhelmed. The ambiance was homely but felt a bit dated, and the lighting could use a softer touch for a cozier vibe. The portion sizes were medium for the price, but the presentation was attractive. Their Chilli sauce was good. All in all, Thai Nivas Cafe is worth a try if you're craving Thai food in the area, but it's not somewhere I’d rush back to. With a bit more quantity, it could easily become a local favorite.

We came here for lunch and won’t be returning. I ordered sushi and hours later I still feel queasy and have a bad taste in our mouth. The tuna roll was way too (fluorescent) pink and the color stained the rice, which means they either dye their tuna or buy it already dyed. It left an odd coating in my mouth. The same happened with the salmon roll - it almost looked like a nectarine instead of salmon. I told the waiter and he just said “uh, I guess I’ll tell the chef” and that was it. I didn’t hear from the chef nor did they remove the item from the final bill. This was the first time I have ever left food without either finishing it/asking for a to-go bag. Not sure about their Thai food but certainly stay away from their sushi.
