Crazy Bowls & Wraps — Restaurant in Creve Coeur

I have been to this CBW several times in the past with no issues. However, today on 6/10/2024 around 1:15 pm, I witnessed a few concerning things that need to be addressed.

When I first walked in, there was a group of at least 5 employees huddled together at a small table across from cash register, laughing & joking, making it hard to get through and place an order. The gentleman who was working at the register and taking orders was very pleasant but kept motioning to the group to come over and assist. Finally, a few people from the group got up and walked back to the kitchen area. I then placed my order with the same gentleman for carry out. This was not my primary concern, but it also didn’t make the experience any better.

The part that was most bothersome to me is one of the young ladies that was putting food orders together took off her plastic serving gloves, unwrapped a plastic fork, and started eating her sushi lunch (looked like it came from Dierberg’s in the same plaza). She then continued putting together orders while eating the sushi, with no gloves. Once she was done putting together a few bowls, she picked them up, bare hands and all, then brought them out to a group in the dining room. Anyone standing by the register or waiting for their food could clearly see this. The gentleman who initially took my order also put my order together with no issues, so the young lady had no contact with my food.

I regret not saying anything at the time about what I witnessed, however, I didn’t want to cause a scene. While nothing malicious or inappropriate was done to the other patron’s food, it was completely unsanitary, not to mention, some people have allergies to sushi/fish/shellfish. Although I enjoyed the food and atmosphere I have to give this a 2 because if the food, staff, and atmosphere aren't the same things need to change. If it were just about the food it would definitely be 5 stars but a business can't survive on just there good food this location needs a upgrade in staff adversity not much ethnicity and the staff there are slightly reluctant to proper serve them. I've eaten here about 5 years ago, then stopped and continued a few months ago. The food is what I remembered it to be like since then. The wraps were great. My top favorites 1. Buffalo Chicken wrap, 2. Pesto wrap, 3. Thai wrap. I think I also had a salmon salad. I always get brown rice too. These are always very tasty to me. Very happy this place exists. One time my father ordered chicken in his salad but wasn't given chicken. The staff made it right. It was late night close to closing so there wasn't much tension. One time a friend gave me a gift card she paid for with no credit loaded on to it. I found this out and the staff at another location made it right. This was years ago mind you. I haven't had any problems with this company that haven't been resolved. The sauce bar is still a bit lacking as the hummus tastes incredibly bland, and some of the sauces like the green sauce aren't even worth eating. Overall, still a 5 star...
