I called and spoke to Adam on Friday evening and told him I really NEEDED a haircut. He gave me the address and said " give me about 45 minutes, See you soon! When I arrived I asked for Adam and was shown to his area. He greeted me with a firm handshake and said "I'll be right with you" . As I sat there taking it all in... (Kingdom Cuts is in an 1920s era strip building, the building still boasts its original tin on the ceiling and still has plenty of character and old school charm.) So it's my turn, As I sit in the chair he asked how would I like my haircut or how do i normally style my hair? I told him and his response was direct and said No, problem! As I sit there getting to know about him and his shop his employees the other barbers slowly were making the way out fir the evening, he was encouraging them to be early and prepared for the next days work. Almost like a father would advise his child about something! His clam nature and understanding of being a father is what drives this shop. He finshed my haircut with a nice hit towel like they do in the movies and even asked If I could wait a minute more as he styled it for me and triple checked to make sure I left looking my best. As he presented the mirror I was amazed I didn't even know if my wife would recognize me when I made it home. The next day everyone expressed how "FRESH" OR "CLEAN" MY IS! ADAM is a class act and has a passion for what he does and what he is doing to impact East Dallas. I will definitely be back! THANK YOU ADAM, YOUR HANDS ARE DEFINITELY BLESSED AND YOUR PASSION AND ARTISTRY SHOWS!
P.S. - My wife loved my haircut! Thanks for making me...
Read moreFresh move to Dallas and looking for a barbershop. I did what I would say is diligent research, but it appears not. After booking online for Chopp, I felt confident (received a couple text messages) about the date and time. Showing up and walking in, I am greeted asking who I had an appointment with, and when responding, a person who i’m lead to believe is Chopp rebutted with ‘I don’t do the $25 cuts, but my guy over there will get you.’ The barber he pointed me to was busy, so after scheduling an appointment and showing up about 15 minutes early, I ended up waiting about 30 total minutes to get in a chair.
The problem, and reason i’m writing the review, is the response I received on enter. Looking through the options on the website, the basic option is the $25 haircut which is exactly what i’m looking for, a simple fade. In the event the barber doesn’t do a certain cut, cool. However, I believe it to be extremely unprofessional and off putting to scoff at the opportunity to provide a service you’re hired to do. Had I been given the opportunity to pay a bit more for the person I had requested, I would have, although begrudgingly after being misled. But nonetheless, I was given the shoulder and pressed to a barber whom I had no idea of or seen any bit of work.
Furthermore, the shop is archaic in nature. The shelves seem to be falling apart, the paint is landlord special’d on the ceiling/walls, and the seating is a several type of chairs i’d expect to find in the back room of church, along side a broken barber chair randomly placed against the wall.
I will not be returning, and will not be recommending the...
Read moreI had a shop I really liked before covid shut down. The owner (or the person I thought was the owner) Adam was cool and did good work, but he had absolutely no respect for time or set appointments. On more than one occasion I showed up at the time HE gave me, only to find him not even at the shop. Other times I'd show up and be sitting there while he took other people ahead of me.
Then I tried another barber who was working there, Louis and he was awesome. Professional, skilled, and knew how to run his appointments. I'd never be waiting more than a few minutes after my arrival and I was always either next up or jumping right into the chair.
Then covid shut everything down. After things opened up I started making calls to see if the shop was still open. I called Adam, seemed his number was no longer good. Called my old barber, ditto.
Then I started looking around the area for another barber shop and came across this one. The location and the shop itself looked an aweful lot like my old spot, and in one photo (which seems to have been taken down now) I saw Adam.
I don't know what happened here, but it's definitely the same shop, and, or at least it seems, with the same problems honoring appointments. Your mileage may vary. I don't know where Louis is now or if he's still cutting hair, but I'd go wherever he's doing it if I could...
