Loved this place! We got there late, like, almost 1:00a.m., kind of late. Surprised to see the kitchen was open and there were several patrons still in house. The room was filled with mostly S.I. people, and, if you don't know what that means, then you probably go to bed early and have a 9 to 5 job. Service Industry people know the best places to eat and drink. This place is at the top of that list. I digress. The gentleman behind the bar, Mark, kindly greeted us, took our drink order, 2 shots of rumpl, a makers rocks, whiskey coke, The music played a variety of songs from a free jukebox as we struck up a conversation with one of the many late-night regulars. He recommended the taco salad, saying, "I like to put their jalapeño ranch on it. They make it in house. It's spicy, but perfect!" He also told us that they grind their own meat for the burgers and we should get one of those as well. We took his advice. As we waited for our food, the bartender engaged us in fun conversation. Turns out, it was his birthday, AND he was the owner! He told us that most of the late late crowd are Service Industry people and that he is happy to provide a place for them (us) to go when they get off from their OWN bar and restaurant shifts, late at night. Back to the food... I had the chips and dip trio - spicy and savory- and the taco salad with carne asada. I should mention, they make their own chips in house, too. They were no less than "perfect."I should have ordered two so I could eat one for breakfast. My friend had a cheeseburger along with cheeseteak egg rolls . Had I room to eat his AND mine, I would have. We drank, we ate, we laughed and had a great time! Somehow, even though it was Mark's birthday, he made us feel like it was ours. All in all, this Old East Dallas gem was the best decision I've made in a long time. You should go, and if it's late late, I might...
Read moreI would like to say that I had been wanting to check out Peak Inn for a long while now because of the quaint look of the exterior so I was excited about finally having the time to go try it. I wish now I would not have ever stepped in and burst my imanginary expectations of the place. I ordered a burger that came out mediocre at best for the price. I was not impressed by any means. I was happy to see a female bartender when I arrived. Jenna (the bartender) was very friendly and talkative with me until the cook "D" came from the kitchen and spoke to me briefly but was kind. At this point Jenna's service and attitude towards me changed wildly to an extremely uncomfortable coldness. "D" then returns from the kitchen after he shuts it down and started talking, or should I say inappropiately flirting with me. He then started showing me pics on his phone that I would rather have not seen. He then asks me to go home with him and Jenna. I am assuming they are dating or together in some way. I certainly will not be back nor will I send any of my colleagues there. When you get a night out without kids, you want to be able to enjoy yourself and feel comfortable in the atmosphere you chose. I refrained from any more adult beverages as I felt awkard and vulnerable and feared that in my situation (a single woman by herself in a downtown Dallas dive bar), that they may try to take advantage of me or worse and be part of some kind of human smuggling ring. Ladies if you do decide to visit Peak Inn, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for GOD'S SAKE be careful as there does not seem to be any security nor...
Read moreI recently discovered this cool little spot called Peak Inn dive bar, tucked away in the heart of the city. It's got everything you need for a laid-back night out: funky décor, dim lighting, and a bunch of vintage stuff on the walls that give it a real cozy feel. The staff are super friendly and easygoing, so you'll feel right at home.
The burgers here are seriously amazing - juicy, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. Don't even get me started on the affordable drinks, from classic beers to creative cocktails. And to top it all off, Peak Inn has a pool table and a jukebox, perfect for some friendly competition and grooving to your favorite tunes.
If you're on the hunt for a chill place to hang out, enjoy a killer burger, shoot some pool, and jam to some tunes, look no further than Peak...
